Actually the research that spawned Siri was started less than a decade ago.

Siri didn't cheat, Siri was directly spawned by the research. The guy who headed the research at SRI actually LEFT THE COMPANY to privatize the technology. It was encouraged and sanctioned.

This is, however, why you haven't seen patents crop up about Siri. DARPA has them all.

You both need to stop too, Vlingo and Siri don't work the same in the background, and both of them existed as ideas and products before hitting the app market.

And if you want to get technical, actually Vlingo existed before Siri started. Siri spun off and became a real product development venture in 2008, by that point in time Vlingo was already launching its first products with Google.

These android phones being denied 4.0 are sometimes only 6 months- 1 year old, think about those very unhappy Galaxy S and Nexus One users
