The Official Platinum Difficulty Discussion Thread

Thanks to antoniosbandana of the Banner Team for making this banner.

This thread is first and foremost a discussion thread, but it also has a poll. Please do not vote in the poll until you have earned the platinum trophy for this game. That being said, we invite you to post below and discuss the difficult aspects of the game, even if you do not yet have the platinum trophy in your collection.

When you post, give more than just a number. Give reasons why you feel the game is easy or hard. What parts of the game are easy or hard? Were there collectibles? Were they a pain? Is there a required online component? How easy or hard is the online portion? What is the most frustrating part about the game?

Once you have obtained the platinum trophy, feel free to return to this thread and post your official vote. Say something to the effect of "I give this a 2 because there was only one tough spot and the collectibles were easy to find". At this point, you may also add your vote to the poll.

The poll is public, meaning everyone can see how you vote.

Obvious spamming will not be tolerated. Moderators will take action against obvious spammers as necessary*.

Misuse of this thread or this poll may count as an abuse of a site feature which is expressly forbidden in the site rules. Moderators will give punishments as necessary.

I don't have the platinum yet but im working on the Astrid ending right now... its a pain because you gotta watch the clock and still get all your friendships to 100-ish by doing fetch quests...

Im at year 1 still with an average of about 35% on all friends so hopefully i wont mess something up...

I would say that its not "hard" as much as it is time consuming but i still don't think its easy unless you are using a walkthrough

Well, I'm the one peon who has cast a vote thus far.... and I rate this as Easy. I'd actually rate it "Very Easy" if there weren't one million and three separate endings/epilogues to the game that oblige you to have some sort of guide in front of you so that you don't miss some completely not-obvious condition to trigger something.

Once you unlock it in Year 2 (IIRC), Wholesale is your best friend for friend requests and front-end castle jobs. One thing you'll notice is that people keep asking for the same #@*@%^!ing thing over and over again, with the same Quality requirements and the same attributes (if they want a particular attribute at all).... simply craft it once, Wholesale it out to the appropriate shop, and purchase it the next time the item is requested. You'll get offered more money by your friend/castle than it costs to purchase it, so you'll end up ahead of the game in that venue.

Use the homonculus to fetch ingredients. Use Wholesale to turn this from an alchemy game into "Rorona: Personal Shopper to the Wannabe Stars" -- the amount of time you save in this fashion is disgustingly high. You'll have so much time left over to do whatever else you like that you shouldn't have an issue with missing events or any of that.... heck, you probably could sleep a large chunk of the game away if that's your desire.

It is an easy platinum. The part where I got bored the most is grinding for 1M for the millionaire ending via doing Gold Pie front requests from Esty. Everything else should be easy to do. I wish there was a way to skip the credits. That song got stuck in my mind for a couple of days lol. Friend requests should be easy to do once wholesaling is introduced.
