Campaign Mission Guide - Requested by OUNOsFAN

For consideration by OUNOsFAN - The following information may be approved and expanded on based on OUNOsFAN's consideration.

I will be gradually working on a guide for each of the missions in the Three Acts of the Campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This guide should be in close to its finished state by early September. Feel free to suggest information to be added once I have the guide writing under control. This guide may contain spoilers, and as a result you should only refer to the part you are up to.

This guide will only include written information, as I do not have the equipment required to provide a video tutorial. I will not use other videos for this guide - it doesn't matter how accurate/helpful they are.

    Campaign Missions - Act I

S.S.D.D - Same Shit, Different Day

    Character -
    PFC Joseph Allen
Destination - Fire Base Phoenix, Afghanistan
    Year - Day 1, 2016
Time of Day - 15:30:30 and counting / 3:30pm and counting
    1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment

After a short briefing by the officer in command (Sgt. Foley), you will be told to pick up an assault rifle from the table in front of you. Hold square to do so. Afterwards you will be told to turn around to the firing range and to fire at the wooden targets which pop up. Shortly afterwards a prompt will pop up asking if you want to change a setting.

After the pop up, Sgt. Foley will explain to the recruits that firing from the hip is in-accurate and that you should fire while aiming down the weapon sights - L1 - and from a stable stance. Press circle (default) to crouch, and then fire at the targets as they pop up. A prompt will tell you to reload. Press square to do so. Afterwards you will be told to fire at the targets as they pop up. You have to be slightly quick. Tap L1 (switch targets) to help you more easily.

Afterwards you will be told to fire at the targets through the wooden surface. You only need to hit one target. Afterwards, pick up a Fragmentation Grenade (Frag) from the table. Turn around and throw the grenade at the targets ahead of you. Be careful not to blow yourself up, that would be an embarrassment. Sgt. Foley will explain that frags tend to roll on sloped surfaces, and to think twice before tossing one up a hill. You will then be dismissed.

Follow the on-screen marker to The Pit, where Cpl. Dunn will greet you and tell you to pick up a side-arm from the table. Press triangle to switch between your primary and secondary weapon. He will tell you that switching to your side-arm is always faster than reloading. Afterwards, you will be told to run The Pit. My record solo is 24.10 seconds without bonuses, but I won't go into more detail. You have to clear the course in less than 60 seconds to proceed.

After you have ran the course and chosen your difficulty, go up the stairs to end the mission.

    MISSION COMPLETE

    Team Player

    Character -
    PFC Joseph Allen
Destination - The Red Zone, Afghanistan
    Year - Day 1, 2016
Time of Day - Unknown (likely mid-day)
    1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment

After recovering from a minor concussion, you are ordered to protect the bridge layers from the enemies on the other side of the bridge. Use your grenade launcher to thin them out and the car or mound of dirt for temporary cover. Eventually the enemies will reach the side of the bridge - use bullets or the grenade launcher to take them out. Then head to the humvees.

You will mount a mini-gun as the humvees travel through the streets. You may see a few civilians running or hiding throughout the area. Eventually you will see a few militia watching, but that doesn't mean you have to kill them. As you head along, a stray bullet will hit one of the humvees, which is the signal to heat up your mini-gun. Kill the militia on top of the buildings and as the humvees start to move look front and back for enemy humvees.

Eventually your humvee will be blown up by an RPG and you will need to traverse throughout the buildings. There is someone who comes down the stairs, and 4-5 enemies upstairs. Use your flashbangs to disorientate them and quickly take them out. Afterwards, you will take some fire from the school, so take out enemies you see before moving towards the school.

There are a bunch of enemies down the corridor - use your grenade launcher/bullets to take them out. A classroom on the right contains two enemies, both behind desks. Head up the stairs and be prepared for a lone militia-man who is sometimes around the corner, and then take out the 3 militia by the windows. Head around the corners and classrooms taking your time with the militia (dependant on difficulty) and you will eventually exit the building.

Head down the street and militia will pour out from a garden to the right of you. Take out as many as you can on sight before clearing out the rest. There are a few militia in the garage to the right of you. Eventually you will meet up with your allies and will be extracted shortly.

    MISSION COMPLETE

    Cliffhanger

Character - Sgt Gary 'Roach' Sanderson
Destination -Tian Shan Mountain Range, Kazakhstan
    Year - Day 2, 2016
Time of Day - 07:35:30 and counting/7:35am and counting.
    Task Force 141

You start off on one side of the Tian Shan Range, close to the top of the mountain. Carefully walk along the ice and proceed after Cpt. Mactavish says the ice is 'good'. Face the cliff-face and press either L1/R1 to climb. You have to alternate with L1/R1 to climb up the cliff-face, though if you don't hold L1/R1 while climbing you'll fall to your death.

After you reach solid ground, Cpt. Mactavish will say "See you on the far side", and will jump across the cliff-face. Follow him remembering to jump, and your pick will lose grip causing you to barely hang on the edge of the cliff-face with only one pick. You will be saved by Cpt. Mactavish - continue your ascent to the top of the mountain.

Climb over the ice ledge and have a brief chat with Cpt. Mactavish. He will tell you how to use a Heartbeat Sensor, what it does, and how to differ between the different types of dots. Slowly follow the path and you will come across two soldiers walking along. You don't have to take out any of them, but Cpt. Mactavish will get annoyed about having to do everything for himself if you do. Follow the path onwards and there will be another two soldiers, this time facing each-other. Eliminate them, and then the real fun begins. - Unfinished

A simple enough tip, but also a very helpful one. Special thanks to Unbreakabull for the post.

For those who have a bit of trouble for whatever reason, Flash-Bangs temporarily blind the enemy (and you), and can be thrown with L2 (default).

A very helpful tip which can save many lives, switching to your side-arm after running out of ammo in your clip can be the difference between life and death.

To switch to your side-arm, press triangle (default). You can also cancel reloading by pressing triangle as well.
