The Official Platinum Difficulty Discussion Thread

    (banner image pending)

This thread is first and foremost a discussion thread, but it also has a poll. Please do not vote in the poll until you have earned the platinum trophy for this game. That being said, we invite you to post below and discuss the difficult aspects of the game, even if you do not yet have the platinum trophy in your collection.

When you post, give more than just a number. Give reasons why you feel the game is easy or hard. What parts of the game are easy or hard? Were there collectibles? Were they a pain? Is there a required online component? How easy or hard is the online portion? What is the most frustrating part about the game?

Once you have obtained the platinum trophy, feel free to return to this thread and post your official vote. Say something to the effect of "I give this a 2 because there was only one tough spot and the collectibles were easy to find". At this point, you may also add your vote to the poll.

The poll is public, meaning everyone can see how you vote.

Obvious spamming will not be tolerated. Moderators will take action against obvious spammers as necessary*.

I don't have the plat as of now however I am still going to vote as the last trophy I need is the Dante Must Die difficulty trophy and I am on level 18/23 and I have written the guide for it.

I would vote this one a 4/5 only due to the fact that a LOT of people may not be able to make it through the Dante Must Die difficulty. The bosses are cheap and the items you can carry and buy are very limited. This one may just be the most difficult one of the three games on the disc.

Easy. You can skip most of the enemies here so if you are going for DMD run, just past through enemies if you don't want to fight unless the road is blocked (white door). Boss battles are easy if you know how to do a Critical Hit and Cancelling recovery time for the weapons.

Moderate. Dante Must Die is the only challenging tropy, but it can be made a lot easier by just farming lot's of stars (especially untouchables) and holy waters by run through normal a through times. besides that, nothing too hard.

3 Moderate: 6/10. This does require 3 playthroughs but is a farily short but awesome game so it doesn't feel like a grind. 1st and 2nd playthroughs are easy and the Dante Must Die mode isn't too bad as long as you have save your items for the 1st 2 playthroughs and use them on the really hard boss battles like Nelo Angelo 3 and Mundus. Still a couple of boss fights you'll need to learn how to fight them so you can save those items for the really hard battles. If no items than this would of been a lot harder.

    3.5/5 or 7/10, Hard

I went with four because unlike most people in this thread I am not experienced with the DMC series so I had some trouble on a few boss battles on DMD difficulty. I missed alot of items on my Normal and Hard playthroughs so I was under prepared for my DMD run. Other than that its three playthroughs with the first two being pretty simple but that than changes for DMD mode as the bosses hit alot harder and you dish out almost no damage . Still not to bad overall and a pretty damn good game so I never felt like I had to force myself through the game.

Im giving it a 4/5 the annoying things about this is having to collect all the blue orbs and trying to get all entries for the enemies. As for the difficulties i recommend beating normal mode at least 2-3times to gather some untouchables and holy waters for dante must die mode. As for dante must die, itsonly difficult if you rush in there without taking the boss fights slow. I recommend going to devils-lair.org for tips and tricks

Moderate. While the standard monsters in DMD were quite easy with a fully developed character some of the bosses were a real pain in the ass. The third fight with Nightmare took me 2 1/2 hours to master and items were not particularly helpful unless you can afford to really use a lot of them. All other trophies were easy to achieve. the log entries took a while but you could repeat every fight situation and it was just a matter of time to get them all. I already played the game back on PS2 so I was still familiar with all secret mission and blue orb locations, nothing difficutl here.

I put hard because of Dante Must Die Mode. This was my first time playing any Devil May Cry so I went in with no experience and I am completely in love. The game was a lot of fun even playing it on the hardest difficulty. If you're new to these games too I would suggest stocking up on items for Dante Must Die Mode. From what I've been told part 1 is the hardest so if you could beat Dante Must Die mode the rest of the games should be cake.
