The Official Platinum Difficulty Discussion Thread

This thread is first and foremost a discussion thread, but it also has a poll. Please do not vote in the poll until you have earned the platinum trophy for this game. That being said, we invite you to post below and discuss the difficult aspects of the game, even if you do not yet have the platinum trophy in your collection.

When you post, give more than just a number. Give reasons why you feel the game is easy or hard. What parts of the game are easy or hard? Were there collectibles? Were they a pain? Is there a required online component? How easy or hard is the online portion? What is the most frustrating part about the game?

Once you have obtained the platinum trophy, feel free to return to this thread and post your official vote. Say something to the effect of "I give this a 2 because there was only one tough spot and the collectibles were easy to find". At this point, you may also add your vote to the poll.

The poll is public, meaning everyone can see how you vote.

Obvious spamming will not be tolerated. Moderators will take action against obvious spammers as necessary*.

3 - Moderate. There are only 2 things you have to look out for on this game, the Insane playthrough and getting 1,000,000 points in Pinball. Other than that, the game isn't too demanding.

Moderate: Insane mode is the toughest trophy and Balls Of Steel was tough but overall it wasn't too hard.

This plat wasn't to hard. The only real hurdle was insane mode and that stupid pinball trophy.

Hard- I found Insane mode really frustrating and with a lot of cheap deaths. Balls of Steel was tricky, but not too bad.

I vote hard because of insane mode. I suck at the hardest difficulty setting for fps titles

    I voted for moderate.
Insane has a couple tricky parts, but the rest is not hard at all. You can go back via chapter select which helps a lot to collect missing ego boost rewards and to collect other missing trophies. Insane just depends on Skill and the right choice of weapons.

3 Moderate or 6/10 Most trophies are really easy but the pinball is a pain in the ass and some parts on insane were tough but that's it.

I voted 2 - Easy but I really think it is 3 - Moderate. Insane sometime just gets pretty hard (turret sequence anyone?) and 1,000,000 points in pinball is absurd. But luckily we have PowerPyx, who has a trick to it.

Insane mode definitely got my blood pressure maxed out... Octobrain, the donkey kong stairs... which was my own fault for not drinking the beer... and downing the 'roids... first try and I was up...

... loading screens were painfully long... I gave it a 3....

I don't think I would've thought it was so bad, but the loading killed it for me. Made it seem a lot worse.

    3. Moderate. Only insane difficulty has a few parts that require some attempts. Mostly the octoking boss. Other then that insane is easy. I actually had a lot of fun with it.

    Hard.

Insane was annoying and unfair at times. Pinball was extremely irritating. The rest of the trophies were easy. This game was okay for playing through it 1-2 times and getting the collectibles but insanity was no fun due to the long loading screens every time you died. Guess this is the reason I voted hard instead of moderate. Pinball was the most annoying mini game I have ever played, not because it was particularly hard but it felt luck based and unfair. The physics are crap, the mechanics unpredictable and it took me several hours till I finally found a way to beat the 1m. The trick to keep the ball in the upper left corner didn't work well for me first. With a 2x multiplayer you still have to clear all three panels about 80-90 times to reach 1m and you only have 3 retries. It usually cost me already 1 retry just to get a 2x multiplyer. Sometims when tilting the ball wouldn't go far enough to the left and still drop. At other times it didn't react at all to the tilt. Today I went into options and swapped left and right stick which was the trick for me to get the exploit working. I had a firmer grip in my left hand and could press the L1 button more precisely. I used the right stick to tild with my right hand which was more precise because it wasn't the hand I also constantly had to use to press L1 and more importantly I pushed the thumb forward instead of back (as you have to move the stick to the left). This way I managed to get 1m on first try. Still this was pretty annoying and this game does not deserver to be my platinum #80. :-(
