The Official Platinum Difficulty Discussion Thread

This thread is first and foremost a discussion thread, but it also has a poll. Please do not vote in the poll until you have earned the platinum trophy for this game. That being said, we invite you to post below and discuss the difficult aspects of the game, even if you do not yet have the platinum trophy in your collection.

When you post, give more than just a number. Give reasons why you feel the game is easy or hard. What parts of the game are easy or hard? Were there collectibles? Were they a pain? Is there a required online component? How easy or hard is the online portion? What is the most frustrating part about the game?

Once you have obtained the platinum trophy, feel free to return to this thread and post your official vote. Say something to the effect of "I give this a 2 because there was only one tough spot and the collectibles were easy to find". At this point, you may also add your vote to the poll.

The poll is public, meaning everyone can see how you vote.

Obvious spamming will not be tolerated. Moderators will take action against obvious spammers as necessary*.

I gave it a 3 for a few reasons. If you have a buddy that helps you out, you can get this platinum with no effort at all, and very fast making it a 1. Where as if you do majority of it solo, there will only be 2 trophies that you really need to worry about or will have issues with giving it a 4-5...

Moderate: The majority of trophies are easy; however, Hard mode is somewhat challenging (the boss battles with Rajani & Jane K took me many tries), but a very fun game especially if you play online.

    4. Hard

I know you can shortcut this game real easy with the right help at the right stages. I however did not, so i'm grading it on my play experience.

The boss fights on hard can be very difficult and unforgiving, Rajani in particular. The only real collectables are bits of lore you find throughout your travel and if you get the expansion pack this collectible becomes obsolete cuz you will find more than your target without much worries. It's very linear for the most part with side quests thrown in along the main path, but not open ended. The dlc was fun and my friend that I played with actually thought it was better than the game. Very proud of this plat.

Hard. Beating DS3 on hardcore difficulty easily stands out as one of the harder challenges I’ve faced in gaming over the past year. You will breeze through much but even with a great partner some of the boss battles will take high strategy and patience. Save often.

DS3 is reminiscent of some of my favorite ps2 action rpgs like Baldur’s gate: Dark alliance and Champions of Norrath. It’s pretty straight forward in missions leaving with little room to stray from the main path.
    No shortcuts here.
