Reminds me that I still have to see Django Unchained. I'm disappointed there's no The Dark Knight Rises nominations

Saw the list earlier today. Couldn't help but laugh, laugh, laugh and laugh repeatedly at Samuel L. "Stereotype" Jackson not getting nominated. He'll be even more butthurt now

Yup I thought it was the best film of last year.... well also liked the Avengers, but I knew that wouldn't get any major noms(visual effects isn't a big category imo)..... kinda shitty that it has to take someone to die in a batman movie to get an award or even a nomination, I personally thought Rises was better than the 2nd... I loved Dark Knight tho, but Rises was even better....
I see Daniel Day winning Best Actor, and maybe Lincoln winning Best Picture... kinda disspointed in the nominations, but its the Academy Awards they always pick the worse movies to be nominated.... if the Coen brothers had a 30 second film about pooping it would've been nominated by those snobby bitches at the Oscars

I don't think Django and Hobbit shouldn't count as they weren't released worldwide in 2012...
Dark Knight Rises is a joke to The Dark Knight.

About time Michael Haneke got some recognition. In my opinion the best director working today.

That's no surprise really considering that the Academy are pretty much made up of the film historian/buff types whose all time favorite movie is Citizen Kane so they only nominate the art films (not that I hate art films or Citizen Kane but that's pretty much their type of film) while most of the well received blockbuster films like TDKR, The Avengers didn't receive any nominations and even if they did it would be in the smaller categories like Sound Editing, Costume Design etc and at best it would have received nominations in the acting categories but never in the Best Picture category as there has never been a Comic Book film ever been in that category to my knowledge.
Haven't gotten around to seeing any of these films so I don't have any favorite I predict that:
Either Lincoln or Life Of Pi for Best Picture
Amour for Best Foreign Picture
Daniel Day Lewis for Best Actor
Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress
Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Best Supporting Actor
Sally Field for Best Supporting Actress
Ang Lee win Best Director
Those would be my guesses as to who would win.

I wholeheartedly agree that they shouldn't do that, since there are some blockbuster titles every year that are actually good. However, to give props to movies like Thor or The Avengers (just giving examples) just because they are huge blockbuster titles would be worse. They're enjoyable films. The kind of movies you go watch to spend the evening with your family/friends or score with a chick. They rarely enjoy great acting performances, great shots or good cinematography.

Anyone seen Lincoln yet , I quite fancy it , Day-Lewis is by far the best actor of his generation . Hope he wins again lol

Django Unchained is not out here yet so is lincoln and some of the other Nominees. Having seen only Argo and Life of Pi i think Life of Pi should win
