I haven't seen a ton of live music, but two of my favourites were Dave Matthews Band in Hershey in 2010 and M83 at the 9:30 Club in DC in May of this year. My friend and I got VIP treatment and free drinks at the M83 show. Also, there was a local band that a group of friends and I happened across at a small venue, Karmella's Game, which was pretty cool too.

Thanks to Thunder for the platbar!!!

They're the best band ever, period!
I don't think they were mentioned yet, but Manowar are absolutely amazing live. They've got so much energy on stage.
Rotting Christ and Amon Amarth put on a great show, too. I think I saw Behemoth mentioned - they're brilliant live!

I've been to thousands of gigs, so I won't bore you all by listing them.

What type of music do you like, so? Going by the username, I'll make a wild guess at punk.

I've only been to a few shows, money always seem to be tight when the bands I like come through. I've seen:
System of a Down, The Mars Volta, and Hella in 2005
The Rolling Stones, Metallica, and Everclear
Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, and In This Moment
    Dethklok
Mastodon, Dragonforce, and Disturbed at Mayhem Fest 2008
Testament, Motorhead, Heaven and Hell (RIP Dio) and Judas Priest on the Metal Masters Tour

Seeing Blink 182 live was probably the best gig I've ever been to probably due to size of the crowd it was at least 10 times bigger than any other gig I've been too and being pretty much right at the front was amazing not to mention they're a great band and chuck a few jokes along the way.

Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and Biffy Clyro were great shows too

Saw Chevelle back when they were first starting out in Charleston, and saw Metallica here in Vegas 3 years ago ( but i was so fucked up from pregaming, I was too out of it to fully enjoy). Seen Motley Fing Crue twice... Definetely Chevelle best though live I'd say.

There seems to be a whole lot of rock fans in here....

Well this guy is a one man band (DJ).. If you're tired it might make you drift off to sleep. If you're on something else ...... it'll make you relax.
