FOX Broadcasting Company - Programming
I'll be the first to admit that I love the movie, despite the fact that it wasn't really all that funny, there was just something charming about the whole silly experience, but I'm not sure that's gonna translate past the hour and a half goodness of the movie into a full time animated series. An animated series based on the hit film, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE follows the comic adventures of America's most awesomely awkward teenager and his offbeat family and friends as they navigate small-town life in rural Idaho. Whether he's facing down bullies or discovering the meaning of friendship, NAPOLEON (voice of Jon Heder) proves that true heroes follow their own path - especially when they have secret ninja skills from the government.
The original cast from the film - Heder, Aaron Ruell, Efren Ramirez, Tina Majorino, Sandy Martin, Jon Gries and Diedrich Bader - return to voice their roles, and many new characters will be added along the way.
Napoleon is a 16-year-old boy convinced - for no apparent reason - that he is destined for greatness and blessed with unlimited "sweet abilities." He spends his days practicing ninja moves, drawing ligers, soul dancing and bragging about his "girlfriend in Oklahoma" whom nobody has ever seen. Napoleon's brother, KIP (Ruell), is an unemployed 32-year-old who lives at home and believes he would be an amazing catch for any girl who responds to his online come-ons. The Dynamite brothers live with GRANDMA (Martin), a crusty woman who can often be found four-wheeling with her lady friends at the local sand dunes.
Napoleon's allies include PEDRO (Ramirez), his unflappable best friend who has recently been elected class president; and DEB (Majorino), an incredibly sweet girl who sees the good in Napoleon and dreams of someday being his wife. Napoleon's UNCLE RICO (Gries) lives out of an orange custom van, where he obsesses over his botched high school football career and dreams up ways to become rich and famous. Then there's REX KWON DO (Bader), a self-proclaimed martial-arts master who runs the local dojo.
Guest voices in the debut season include Amy Poehler, Jennifer Coolidge, Sam Rockwell and Jemaine Clement.
NAPOLEON DYNAMITE is a 20th Century Fox Television production. The series is created and executive-produced by Jared Hess and Jerusha Hess ("Napoleon Dynamite," "Nacho Libre"). Executive producer and Emmy Award-winning writer/producer Mike Scully (THE SIMPSONS, "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Parks and Recreation") developed the series for television. Dwayne Carey-Hill directed the premiere episode. The animation house is Rough Draft Studios ("Futurama," "The Simpsons Movie").

A Napoleon Dynamite Cartoon? What's next an Austin Powers show? Animal House? Porky's?
This is like 10 years too late and I don't see this lasting very long.

I guess Fox is trying to find a new animated series in case The Simpsons actually hits the road.

This woulda been a lot smarter to do if they made it in 2005 or, whenever the movie came out.
By now, nobody really cares about Napoleon Dynamite anymore.

Total Awards: 4it could or could not work out, depending on how they go with it
there are many things that were deemed absolute trash at the beginning and / or concept that lasted long past that stage into a well-accepted show
i see this as possible (or at least for the first season)

I'll give it a shot but we all know how Fox is. If it's good it will either get canceled prematurely or be stuck on the air over a decade too long.

You know what this show is, a last sad attempt at stardom for Jon Heder. The movie was a runaway success and all of a sudden this complete unkown is being thrust into comedy after comedy (usually just playing his ND character). Well his star faded very quickly so he has gone back to the well to hopefully draw just a little bit more out of it.
It is kind of sad how Hollywood does this to people, it builds up their egos and then leaves them high and dry once the money runs out.
