Fallout 3 help with killing the five Super Mutant Behemoth

I killed my first Super Mutant Behemoth at an early level at the GNR building. It was an extremley tough battle and I want to hear any suggestions about how to kill these enemies easily and quickly. More useful information would be how many Fatman nukes it takes to kill one

About eight to ten nukes for me. But it depends where you aim. Obviously you can kill him with a fewer nukes if you aim for the head

If you're having trouble - set the difficulty to easy. Otherwise get the upper hand by shooting while hidden, use all kinds of drugs to get yourself buffed up, and have a healthy supply of stimpacks on you when you go in for the kill. Save before the fight too.

The amount of mini nukes needed - varies depending on difficulty settings.

Oh yeah, you can also just litter the floor with bottlecap mines and make him run towards them.

Yeah, Bottlecap Mines are extremely effective, I was able to kill one with I believe about 5-10 of B-Cap Mines. It should take like 2 Fatman nukes, maybe 3. I would go for the Behemoths later in the game when your character is a high level, or you have a good weapon.

I didn't worry about using any nukes. I just constantly shot at the head and moved around all the time. Took awhile, but the results were the same.

The easiest thing to do is wait until you're at a higher level. By then you should have some good weapons and you can sneak attack them. You will most likely also gain a follower by then. This way its a piece of cake.

Question: Do you have to get the death shot...or just be there to see it die?

I used the Gauss rifle and had Fawkes with me when I went after them plus I was level 30 (I think).

Don't think it matters just so long as you shoot it once.

Have you got Fawkes the Super Mutant? He's an excellent companion.

Who needs weapons for them? I used bare fists, killed one in 4 punches!

Just kidding that's a lie, would be great to find a video of someone taking one on with no weapons though, just stock up on a couple thousand stimpacks and go to work, might take a few hours to kill one though.

When I went for the one in the cage with all the raiders I had the brotherhood of steel companion and when the gate opened she thought it'd be a good idea to charge head on right up to the super mutant, that didn't end so well for her, but with a couple mini nukes I took that one out no problem. Just make sure you don't bring companions to them like I did unless you're careful about it.
