Captain Cryptic's Confounding Quiz is a necessary quiz you must complete multiple times to unlock fragments that are required for the Defragmented trophy. This will only cover the strategies and answers for Captain Cryptic. For general questions, please see the trophy guide.

• Strategy: Captain Cryptic can be found inside the Command Center on the left side by using the Moogle Hunt to make him appear. Once you talk to him, he will appear and you can take his quiz. You can only answer one question at a time and then he will disappear to 1 of 11 different locations around the city. This fragment will be awarded for answering five groups of questions in a row correctly.

[hide][top]Captain Cryptic's Possible Locations

Captain Cryptic will originally appear in the Command Center to the left of the Quiz Terminal on the left hand side. He will always be phased out, in every location he is in. After you answer his first set, he will now move somewhere throughout Academia. It's always random and never in the same location so use the tips below to find him.

• ALWAYS return the the Historia Crux after each set you have answered to make him respawn some place else!
• One of Captain Cryptics favorite hiding places is in the Grand Avenue. Check in all the nooks and crannies by the stores, check under the stair case, check down the only set of stairs in the area, go up the stairs at the end of the stores and check near the Advanced Moogle Hunt chest on the left side of the area.
• Captain Cryptic also likes to hide out in the catwalks that you can get to by following the path up the stairs and up the movable ramps near the Wild Artefact.
• On the west side of Academia, Captain Cryptic likes to hide out in the area down the movable ramp from the main battle in the 400AF time period. Check all the nooks and crannies on the long movable sidewalk in the area near the Quiz terminal and also check the area at the very bottom of the movable ramps.
