Apparently, I 'screwed up' my characters' Crystarium

Just maxed out my characters yesterday, and I was wondering why Noel only had about 600 strength without his weapons and accessories when most online guides seem to have Noel sitting at over 800 natural strength. Apparently I was supposed to level the characters up so that the COM, RAV and SAB bonuses land on 'large' nodes'. I never bothered with that, and leveled up the roles equally during storyline progression, and afterwards concentrated one role at a time post-game. While I haven't platinumed the game yet (still need Giants Fist, kill Yomi and get the rest of the paradox ending and casino fragments) I'm pretty confident that you don't need a max strength Noel to get the rest of the trophies, including Giant's Fist.

I'm not going to bother starting over as it doesn't seem necessary, but I'm just wondering how did other players progress their characters? Did you all level them 'properly' and end up with over 800 natural (no weapons or accessories) strength/magic for Noel and Serah, or did you randomly level them and end up with 'underpowered' characters?

I normally only landed Commando on the large nodes for Noel, and Ravager for Serah.

Then, once those two roles were maxed out for Noel and Serah respectively, I moved on to Saboteur for Noel and Synergist for Serah, placing more priority on STR/MAG for Noel and MAG/HP for Serah.

Either way, you can still get Giant's Fist easily with a monster ally instead of Noel. Simply use a maxed Chichu (with over 1,000 STR) and land her Meteorite Feral Link ability while the enemy, like a Long Gui, is staggered to 999.99%.

Once you max out on the crystarium, the differences between your stats do not matter that much at all since the game is not too challenging by itself. The only variations depending on how you leveled up in the crystarium are HP/STR/MAG, and only those three stats, so it does not affect your gameplay much in the end. =3

This is something interesting, having to "properly" level up.... :-\

I didn't pay attention to the size of the nodes at all. I concentrated on getting COM and RAV to 99 first though and ended up with about 700-800 base strength. You'll be fine though, none of the trophies are out of reach. After you acquire both fragment energy weapons and get the right equipment it wont matter in the end.

I actually did the whole "min/maxing" thing or so the term is called. Had no reason to really do it but I figured I may as well follow what the official guide said. To put briefly on what it was to put only certain types on the large nodes and the more useless ones on the small nodes. For Serah you were supposed to put Ravager, Saboteur (odd levels only), and Synergist (odd levels only) on large nodes. For Noel it was Commando, Synergist (odd levels only), and Saboteur (even levels only). The rest like Sentinel, Medic, and whichever was left over for each character were to stay on the small nodes.

But as people said, you really don't need to do it because by time you finish off the crystarium you should have enough to effectively still beat all the stronger monsters in the game. The way above is just optimizing the characters potential.

Oh, I didn't know that monster attacks could also contribute to the Giant's Fist trophy. I thought it had to be either Serah or Noel to deal the hit. Thanks, makes getting that trophy easier.

Though I'm not too bothered by the fact that my Noel is rather weak compared to other Noels, now I wish that extra 500HP on him was better spent on strength. Oh well, I won't be restarting, it's too much bother. I just hope that if they release some more DLC coliseum battles there won't be any super hard opponents that force you to have at least 800 base strength/magic for all your characters and monsters.

I did the same thing, and my natural strength for Noel is 732. I got the Giants Fist trophy with only one Power Wristband on by complete accident. Lol, so don't worry about any of the trophies. You will get them all without hardly any extra effort.

The same thing happened to me. I wasn't fully leveled up yet (I still had 20 or so levels to go) but I decided to take on the Long Gui. The first time I staggered him the trophy unlocked. I was like 'that was easy' and then continued to keep smashing him.

I wasn't even aware that the way you leveled up actually affected your stats until I was almost done with the game It didn't really matter in the end, since there was a hardly a difficult battle in the entire game.
