2011 Review Team Game of the Year Awards: Best Technical Game of 2011

As 2011 comes to a close the Review Team took a look back at all the great games of 2011 and decided to bring PS3Trophies.com our selection for:

    Best Technical Game of 2011

We define a game's technical experience as its overall visual package: Environment and Character design, Graphics, Sound, etc. Each member of the RT voted on a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place game and the results below were based on the results of each members' votes. Eligible titles were released between 12/1/2010 and 12/1/2011.

Come back tomorrow as we will award Best Multiplayer Game of 2011.

    1st Place:

    Uncharted 3

Even as Drake pushes the limits of everything in the wonderfully crafted set-pieces.

All of this serves to compliment and highlight the wonderful universe Uncharted creates in its story department.

    2nd Place:

    Dead Space 2

    3rd Place:

    Portal 2

All of that together make this a game that other devs should try to surpass on a technical standpoint from now on.

Gauss's Piracy Uncertainty Principle: When you pirate a game, that act inherently changes the results of what is to come after your pirating. You can't make any statement with any certainty regarding what would have happened had you not pirated the game.

    Gauss's Rating Rationale:
0-1: A game whose very existence is abhorrent to all things creative and intelligent.
2-4: A just plain bad game.
5-6: A game that has alot of mistakes, but is atleast playable and has some enjoyable sections. Good for a rent.
7: An average game, should be played at some point
8: A good game, should buy at some point
    9: A great game, day-one purchase
10: A game that goes above and beyond the generation, its transcendent.

Good choices for all three games. I've gotten the in Portal and UC3 but as much as I want to I will never play Dead Space (I don't do well with Survival Horror).

Uncharted 3 is awesome and definitely deserved 1st place for the technical. Haven't played Dead Space 2 or Portal 2 but will in the future.

Enjoy that as it will be awesome.

Nice choices here! I haven't played DS2 though because honestly, I'm too scared.

Also, I hope to see AC:R at the top of the MP list. Actually, that's dumb, I'm sure it will be Portal 2 at the top. But hopefully AC:R is on there, even though I went on a major bitching spree about it yesterday

I'll be able to play Uncharted 3 in a few days so I'm looking forward to that. Everything about Portal 2 was awesome and I'm kind of in the same boat as dr_mayus when it comes to Dead Space.

    HIGHLY recommend Dead Space 2!

Here's to hoping UC3 will grace me in four days!

And Portal 2 was very glitchless, which made me very happy.

Dude...I'm 16 years old, and I've played through the game twice now and I'm doing Hardcore mode in it too, and I don't think it's scary.

It's one of the best games of the year.

Come on i know all three games are great but nothing to Batman Arkham City i mean the ending was a bit unexpected and exciting and despite the many Villains which i don't think is a bad thing the developers made it tightly close and all related in one way or another it deserves at least to be mentioned as a runner up or something !!

For me trophies have become an integral part of gaming, like a stereo in a car. Is it really necessary? No. Is it a lot more fun with it though? Hell yeah!

The whole atmosphere of bioshock creeped me out! It's been a while (other than dead space I guess) since i've played a game so cautiously

In that case you'd best not even try Hardcore mode

I will never try Dead Space. I'm too scared of ghosts, zombies anything supernatural. I can only kill Nazi Zombies in COD (but it has to be multiplayer, singleplayer scares the hell out of me!) Uncharted 3 is a great game with awesome graphics.
