    6 Californias?????

So apparently there was a big thing going on in California recently, where approximately 808,000 people signed a petition to get California split up into 6 different states. The petition got enough signatures to make it into a spot on the 2016 ballot, and at that point it will be decided as to the fate of the one California we have now. Below is a map of what the split-up will look like if it is approved:

My friend who lives in San Jose thinks that this would never happen, and that he is pretty shocked to see that it got that many signatures.
I first heard about this from USA Today here :http://blog.mapline.com/wp-content/u...No-Sidebar.jpg

So now I ask you, what is you opinion on having California split into 6 states, bringing the total number of states to 55 instead of 50?

And now South California (aka Los Angeles) will be the new Mexico. God damn it all.

Edit: Los Angeles is actually in West California (My Geography sucks) but were still screwed anyways.

I really want to see this, purely for observational and entertainment value. Not many people alive in the western world have been witness to the creation of new states.

Quebec has been trying to separate from Canada for awhile now. This year the Bloc was defeated pretty soundly but they will try again.

I am sure this is about the same thing (just a few nuts who think life will be better if they separate)

I've seen this on how the states got their shape. California isn't the only state that wants this scenario. Long Island wants to be separate from New York. There are other areas also. Highly doubt it will happen anytime soon.

What's the benefit? What will the U.S. gain out of splitting one state into several? Maybe a little bit more money? Or do people just want it split to be douche bags?

I had seen something a few years ago that a portion of Northern California and a small part of Oregon were trying to secede from their respective states and form a new state on their own, and I believe they were going to call it Jefferson, however, I'm not too sure as the name. Wonder if it will also include that small part of Oregon, as well.

I guess that puts me in Southern California. Not much of a big deal to me, really.

Yeah, but what I meant was it probably isn't the whole State that wants the seperation, just a few nuts who think that having 6 states will be better t
