14 Retail Vita Games = 225 MBs of space on memory card

Joystiq's retail Vita collection requires 255MB of storage | Joystiq

If you haven't heard by now, chances are very high that you will need a memory card to get much use out of that shiny new PlayStation Vita. Apart from requiring a memory card for PSN downloads, many retail games have their own storage requirements as well. After the break, we've listed the requirements for every retail title we have on hand (see image above, Rappy included for scale). We've also included the storage required for the downloadable Vita games available thus far.

The retail games we have add up to just over 255MB of required storage, a figure you might want to keep in mind before deciding which incredibly expensive memory card is right for you. It's also worth noting that a full 160 of those MBs are dedicated to FIFA Soccer.

    • Asphalt: Injection - None!
    • BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend - 2MB
    • Dungeon Hunter: Alliance - Zilch
    • FIFA Soccer - 160MB
    • Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational - 4MB
    • Little Deviants - 1MB
    • Lumines: Electronic Symphony - 2MB
    • Michael Jackson: The Experience HD - 300KB
    • ModNation Racers: Roadtrip - ~1MB (1056KB)
    • Rayman Origins: 5MB
    • Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen - 4MB
    • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - 4MB
    • Uncharted: Golden Abyss - 64MB
    • Wipeout 2048 - 8MB
    Downloadable Vita titles
    • Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational - 1.15GB
    • ModNation Racers: Road Trip - 1.15GB
    • Super Stardust Delta - 208MB
    • Uncharted: Golden Abyss - 3.2GB
    • Wipeout 2048 - 1.6GB

Fifa has 140mb?! What the actual fuck?

Thank fuck I don't like football.

Uncharted at 64mb is also a bit of a kicker but fortunately the games I'm getting don't seem to take up THAT much.
I think the biggest memory drain will be Gravity Daze as it's only PSN download in the EU -_-

What the hell is going on here?

MBs are not the same thing as GBs.

Also, 225 is not the same thing as 255.

Also, you can store everything they've listed there for under 8 GB.

Also, a 32 GB memory card is $99.99, not $119.

    1000 MB = 1 GB

if 14 games fill up 225, there's going to be some major memory issues in the future for 4 GB users.

How so? If 1000 MB = 1GB that means there is approx. 4000MB on a 4GB card. And since those 14 games only take up 225 MB there is still A LOT of room for plenty of games. Only way that can be seen as a problem is for the prople who buy the digital copies.

Well if you don't play FIFA it's only 65MB for 13 games. That's averaging 5MB a game, so if you plan on only getting a 4gb card for $20 you could get roughly 800 games on there.

As long as the games don't go upwards of 100 or 200MB on average, it doesn't seem to be that big a problem.

If I'm going to get a 4 GB memory card, I don't see why only 225 MB is a big deal really. Nothing to cry a river over. Looks like if you're going to buy a 32 GB memory card than you're have much more than enough space after the 14 games.

Um, you install the game data again just like when you first played the game...... It isn't really that difficult to delete and reinstall game data.

255mb for 14 games of non downloaded game data? Whats the problem? 4gb is overkill for anyone that buys retail obviously. Now if they do lots of downloadable games. I can see the 4gb being a waste of space for a card. Seems this article is complaining about the wrong things instead of the real problem. But that's a common problem with Joystiq's article and Ps360's misinterpretation.
