PS Vita News: Major Australian retailers won't stock PS Vita - ComputerAndVideoGames.com
Following reports that JB Hi-Fi will not stock the 3G version of the PS Vita, comes news that three major Australian retailers will not stock the device at all.
As reported by Kotaku AU, Big W and Target announced today they have no plans to stock the Vita at launch. "At this stage we are not stocking the PlayStation Vita, however it may be something that we stock at a later date," read the statement.
K-Mart explained they will not stock the Vita because their focus is on low-cost products.
This means most consumers will have only three major outlets to choose from: EB Games, GAME and JB Hi-Fi (but only the wi-fi model at the latter outlet).
Sony later responded to the news. "For the launch of PlayStation Vita in Australia, with the specific target market being the active gamer we have chosen to launch the console with a focussed retail channel strategy across national specialist game and specialist technology retailers.
"There is a long term vision for our revolutionary new hand-held platform, in the same way we had a long term vision for the PS3, and anticipate that in line with this we will broaden channel distribution in the future."
Do you think this will affect retail prices for the PS Vita? How much are you willing to spend? Let us know in the comments section below.

Total Awards: 21K-Mart is a major retailer in Australia? Given how much it blows here, I find that hard to believe.

Meh, they're just not planning to sell it.
The title makes it sound like Sony asked them to and then the companies turned around and flat out refused to sell the product... Stupid misleading title

I was aiming more towards "refuse" being too strong a word. Made it sound like they were being stubborn. But they're not, they just don't want to sell it yet, or at all.
Still unsure if the Vita is going to take off properly.... Especially by the seemingly bad Japanese reception.
