Should the battery be dead before charging?

This is something I've been wondering about since buying my Vita late last year, should the battery be completely flat before charging or not? My brother reckons it doesn't matter but I'm not so sure.

Nah don't let it get to 0%.
To keep your battery in good health (so it holds it charge as long as possible) let it get to below 10%, then charge it. Don't always leave it plugged in, either.

Alright. This is good news cause letting it get to the red and then charging it is what I've been doing. I don't so that's also good.

Letting it die once a month is good apparently for iPhone's, so it should apply to the Vita too probably.

Mine hasn't died for a while, i only charge it if im close to finishing a game and i am about to go out so it doesn't die on me when i come back home, or when i get the red bar. Mine is constantly on unless i go to sleep.

Allowing any battery to reach 0% is a big mistake.

The battery wont ever hold a full charge after that point, and it will continually get worse if the battery life reaches 0% multiple times.

nonsense... lithium Ion is made differently than other rechargable batteries... it's all bullshit that you must do this a certain way... lithium ion doesn't have a "memory" you can charge it whenever you want

I don't usually let my Vita or laptop hit 0% but have been caught out a couple of times. I'll definitely make sure that never happens again.

I was told to run it down but not to zero then overcharge it once a month and it keeps the duration of the charge lasting longer .
Would like to thank Google and snipping tool for my amazing sig + avatar
