I have over 90. I will clean up my list when it's full and when I need to make room for boosting partners really.

I have somewhere around 40-odd friends, most of whom have been there for some time now. If someone never talks or plays the game that they perhaps added me to work on together, I'll usually send them a couple of messages, and if I get no response, then away they go. I see no point in keeping people on my friends list if I'm never going to hear from them. Luckily, though, the majority of friends have been fairly communicative and are online pretty often, so I don't often have to delete anyone!

I delete people when I don't play with them. If it's been forever I'll delete them.

I delete people certain people if the haven't been online in over four months and others who I never talk to. I had a lot of friend requests recently from playing Dark Souls and most of them are low level so I assume they just wanted someone on their list whose a lot higher to compare trophies with. I'll probably end up deleting a few of them in the coming months.

A lot of the time it's better to have a full friends list, it stops people you have never heard of/played against/talked to at a forums etc sending you friends requests.
Far better for somebody to sent you a PSN message asking for a friends request with a explanation/introduction, then you can delete somebody that hasn't been only for ages and add the new person if you wish.

I don't think i've ever cleared up my friends list, other than deleting some fools that didn't deserve "friendship status" i've never felt the need to clear it up lol.

I have 8 PSN friends, only one of those is a person I know IRL, most others are people from here, and a few more I met while playing online I only delete those a-holes who send in a blank friend request and don't answer to my message asking them who they are / what they want.
