    Best router for PS3

I am needing to get a new router and was looking for any good advice on what would be best. I have 2 laptops and 2 PS3s on it and it needs to be Wireless. I also am needing to know something thats not crazy expensive cuz I can't afford much right now. I know of a BB, Office Depot, Target and Walmart and such nearby so if that helps cool.

Honestly I don't know a lot about routers. But I have a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router ($80 @ Best Buy). I have my PS3, laptop, and desktop hooked to it and I never have any problems.

well.. router's doesn't really matter unless you get an extremely cheap one.

    What matters is your bandwidth..

I have a regular Netgear wireless router.
    PS3 connected directly
    2 Laptops wirelessly

    I run at around 20mbs

    Get a Cisco/Linksys or Siemens.

Stay away from 2Wire, Belkin and Netgear.

What Helyx said, Cisco/Linksys are especially known as being really good products and have a good name.

I would always try to wire the PS3. It's not that difficult to wall-fish a CAT5e cable if you have an inside wall and an attic. YouTube it. Anyways, as long as it's an N-router and/or dual band (if you have the fat PS3) then you should be fine. I've used the cheap-o routers in the past with no issues. Although, you do need to have a little knowledge on how to set it up right.

    Found a Cisco under $30 at BB Cisco - WRT120N Wireless Router - IEEE 802.11n (draft) - WRT120N

Seems the right choice all around.

Netgear is perfectly fine. Never had a problem with them in the past.

2Wire is great. Using one right now. Also, when I had AT&T U-Verse, the gateway they supplied me was a 2Wire. Never any issues whatsoever.

    Never used a Belkin.

Linksys I had issues with, but that may have been an isolated case as everyone else I know that has one has had no issues.

Fuck Siemens. That shit just randomly stops working. My neighbor got one that didn't work right out of the box. He returned it and got another one. It just stopped working after 2 days. Took it back and got another one (different model Seimens)). That one stopped working after a few days as well.

You might want to also consider using powerline networking for your PS3: HowStuffWorks "How Power-line Networking Works"

I used to have a Belkin router, but I kept on getting dropped from online, or disconnected every so often . Then I switched to a Netgear router, and I haven't had a problem since I switched

The router doen't affect much unless you buy a cheap one that works only for 2 days .

Still Netgear is a great choice or Cisco/Linksys

I really recommend using wired connection to you ps3. I have NetGear wireless/wired router. Work fine the wireless connection is as fast as the wired on my PC and laptops. Thou when I use wireless in my ps3 I only gt 20-30% of the speed I get with a wired connection.
