whew, I thought they were making some huge ass changes. I could care less about them changing the PSN name. SEN actually sounds a little better.

Rumor on another forum site says that one of the reasons for the name change has to do with the fact that the PS4 will not be called the PS4. It will have a different name not utilizing the 'Playstation' name in any way.

I call bullshit on that rumor though.

I will probably still call it PSN to be honest. SEN doesn't sound right.

We are gathered here today, to say goodbye to a network. It was not just a network, it was a great network, a fellow, a friend. Now, with greater things in mind such as the SEN, there was no use for good old PSN, so it pulled it's own plug. Nothing stopped this great network for living, not the Xbox, not the Wii, not the haters or the fanboys, not even Anonymous. You weren't just there for gamers, but for families, parties and all around lonely people. You gave and gave and gave, for the little money you took, you took the best of the best of games, but still gave room to small indie developers, like Capy Games and Hello Games... you were there for them.... you were there for all of us. You saw the Xbox's hardcore games library and the Wii's casual games library and said: "Screw it!!" and then you took the best from both worlds, melted into a network of core games. You made us gain access to old friends, and made even more. You made us connect to the whole world to play the games of our desire. You made us browse through the interwebz, in an amusingly not that awkward browser interface. And you gave us hope and dreams, through bragging rights to have the best trophy collection, the thing we most desired. From technology you have been programmed, from the technology you will stay, and through technology you will kick XBLA's ass in a another dimension.

Rest in Piece, dear friend, Rest in Piece.

PSN definetley sounded better than SEN, but I don't really care tbh, nothing has really changed from what I gather, so it in the end what does it really matter?, R.I.P. PSN!

PSN is still PSN, people. It's just being made a part of SEN. It's really nothing to freak out and worry over :/. They've been adding ALL of their services to SEN ever since it was created last year.

IE: Music Unlimited is part of SEN, but it's still "Music Unlimited".

Basically all this means is that you are going to have one over-arching account that can access all of these services, as opposed to having to create multiple logins.

And even if it stops being "PSN", it really doesn't matter - it still offers the exact same thing as before.

"A rose by any other name".

Understandable reasoning behind it, wont change a damned thing so can't complain, it's still Sony.

I honestly can't comprehend the emotional attachment to an acronym.

Nothing has changed, it's just a name to broaden the service beyond Playstation.

Yeah, and that doesn't erase the fact of how shitty it's security is/was.

People will probably end up pronouncing it as a word, rather than just using the letters like P-S-N. "Whats ur SEN Id ?" im sitll gonna stick to calling it PSN ... i think.

Where's the opt out clause? Do I have to right them?

All joking aside, we're not losing or gaining anything by this. It's a name change, and an update so that all their legal notices and such reflect said name change. I'll personally probably still refer to it as PSN, and I'm guessing most people I know will still call it that as well. It's not really a big deal. I'm just surprised at the utter lack of advance notice.
