Sony Reveals "NASNE" For PS Vita And Other Devices ~ PS Vita Hub | Playstation Vita News, PS Vita Blog

Sony Japan has revealed images for their brand new "Networked Recorder and Media Storage Device" which is compatible with the PS Vita and PS3, details inside.......

The “nasne” device comes with a 500 GB hard drive in addition to dedicated tuners for “digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast.” It can connect with several Sony devices (Playstation 3, PS Vita, VIAO PC, Sony Tablet and Xperia Play) using dedicated apps so that users can watch and record video.

You can check out how “nasne” will work with each aforementioned device from the details provided by the official press release below:

PlayStation®Vita PS Vita users will be able to watch and record digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasts through “torne for PS Vita” (tentative name), a dedicated application for accessing “nasne” from anywhere within the same home network via Wi-Fi connection . “torne for PS Vita” will become available within this calendar year. By leveraging the ability of “nasne” to simultaneously create an export file while a television program is being recorded, users can quickly transfer recorded content through Wi-Fi connection and easily enjoy them on the go on their PS Vita’s beautiful 5-inch OLED. Details of “torne for PS Vita” will be announced in due course.

PlayStation®3 PS3 users will be able to watch and record*3 digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast through LAN cable by installing “torne” version 4.0, a dedicated application for PS3, which will come bundled with “nasne.” By connecting a maximum of four “nasne” units to their PS3, users can simultaneously record up to four television programs. Those who already have a “torne” device connected to their PS3 will be able to connect a maximum of four “nasne” units to their PS3 and record up to five television programs.*4 Details of “torne” version 4.0 for PS3 will be announced separately.

Sony Computer Entertainment’s “nasne” will be released in Japan on July 19th. It has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 16,980 yen (or approximately $210.72 in U.S. dollars).

Wait, does this record gameplay or something?
Because if it does, then I might think about getting it. If not, then Tivo should be more than enough.

Isn't it possible with this device we might actually get LIVE PvP Competitions that can replace having "over 9,000" getting their chance into the rostekr? Even possibly a Guild vs. Guild match-up LIVE?

Or...unless i've stuck in Afghanistan way to fucking long that i'm behind all this shit, lol!! Sorry, The Secret Society got me to me

Interesting ...So it seems like it records games and all, but also television programs?

So basically a hard drive that holds recorded vids. Got it.

I'm sure I'll pick it up out of the bargin bin for next to nothing like usual. But as far as use it??? I'll play around with it. What are the prices for the broadcasting and satellite services? I find it hard to believe that it will compete with a superior service like Netflix.

From what I read and can decipher this records live television shows and can be streamed to the ps vita. It's like a dvr that can stream to the Vita. Hmmm...I highly doubt I will buy this considering 1) I don't have cable and already stream all tv shows from my laptop and 2) I only have a wi-fi ps vita and I don't want to use my personal hotspot on my iphone for hours just to watch game footage I taped.

Since it's a UK, AU, NZ release only. Kinda hard to forget when it was never released for a lot of us.

Not sure about Microsoft, but I'm positive Apple has something similar on the works, if not on the market already.
