The PS3 is still lacking in JRPG's compared to what the PS2 and PS1 has. Obviously FFXIII and FFXIII-2 are worth your time. I would also recommend Star Ocean The Last Hope and Tales Of Graces F (even though i haven't played it).

Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll is definitely a great JRPG, all of my friends whom I have forced to try it have loved it. *Plus it has stacking English Platinums (EU/US). Nier is also fabulous with one of the best stories and soundtracks. *Tales of Graces f has enjoyable gameplay mechanics, but the story is not very good and the English voice acting is simply awful (they should have left the JP voice option in). *Another RPG, I would highly recommend is Last Rebellion, don't know why so many people hate it ... It is definitely better than other higher rated RPGs. Cross Edge was a lot of fun too!

You both are my favorite people on the site now. I LOVED Trinity and can't believe not that many people ever tried it .

I was happy about the platinum and dedicated it and my Dark Souls ones, as silly as that is, to a very missed friend of mine. . Didn't know that EU had a different trophy list to Trinity: Souls.. I"ll have to check it out. Might be worth replaying through again .

I recommend FF games, but if you're not into FF series I've heard that Suikoden is a good jrpg game.

While most people consider Hyperdimension Neptunia is a really poor game in current JPRG standards, I enjoyed it very much. This game is a very unique, VN style RPG that holds many references to personified game companies. Many of its redeeming qualities are mostly on the jokes and banter of the characters instead of gameplay. The second game however is much more fun to play.

I haven't played Trinity Universe, but I suppose it has the same exact game engine as Neptunia.

You should also play Tales of Graces . The Tales series is probably one of the most popular titles for JRPGs and really easy to get into.

    my latest anime updates

Tales of Graces f if you've played the other Tales games. Definitely a good one~ As well as Hyperdimension Neptunia and mk2... both fun and hilarious. Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 if you feel like graphics are a must but definitely good gameplay as well. All of the games I've mentioned so far were games that I got Platinums. They were that fun and worth the time playing =D

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Persona 3. It's available now as a PS2 classic.

It's already mentioned by System H lol

Though I kinda wish there were trophies for that. It would be such a great one to Platinum

An old thread, but does anyone have anything new to add to this?

I only ask, because I'd never played a JPRG before until I tried to play Ni No Kuni when it first came out, and despite the beautiful graphics and soundtrack, it just wasn't my kind of game. If Ni No Kuni an accurate representation of the whole JRPG genre, I may have to give this kind of game a miss.

    It's an XBox 360 Exclusive

Same as Lost Odyssey, which I thought was a great game as well.

I'm looking forward to the U.S. release of Tales of Xillia in August.
What happens to CoD players when they try to play Dark Souls...

I'm also waiting for Tales of Xillia in August.

Also really enjoyed Tales of Graces f and Final Fantasy 13-2. I have Ni no kuni, but haven't played it yet.
My fave Jrpg's are from SNES and PS1 era though. Jrpg's nowadays are kind of a mixed bag/different (still love them btw).
