I always use map to collect things. They're not usually fun trophies but they're obviously required for the plat. I wouldn't say not using a map is challenging yourself either it's just making things tedious.

Depends on the trophy. For inFAMOUS, I am so using one for the blast shards. I beats the heck out of running around trying to locate the last two I need outta 350!

I too used a map for the same game and would do again for any collectibles.I am actually following a guide atm for Tomb Raider:Underworld, the collectibles in this are a little bit of an arse.

Yes. For collectibles as usually it's necessary. Can you imagine how long it would take you on just one game to search for everything yourself? I love my games, but I wouldn't want to spend THAT much time searching for shit in the wrong places, though I do it to an extent. I say try and find things first yourself, then use a guide to pick up things you missed along the way...unless of course you're playing Star Ocean.

    Just for collectables.

This is pretty much my mentality.

Yep I just finished up my blast shards and I said from the very beginning I would follow the map because I was not spending extra time just running around looking for my last shard. I actually missed one shard in the neon district and had to run around for like 20 minutes looking for it, but I found it I highly recommend a map for inFAMOUS shards.

Yes. Absolutely recommend a map for those blast shards. They're not too terrible since a lot are close together, but I was missing the one on the top of the tallest building because it doesn't even show up on the map until you're up high enough. IT WILL SAVE YOU SOME TIME using a map for this game.

If I want to use a map or other help, then I do.

If I don't want to use a map or other help, then I don't.

I usally find as many as i can on my own first, then use a map for those last tricky ones.
Except the ridiculous Harry Potter and the deathly hallows pt1 where all the collectables had to be done in one playthrough with no chapter select.

I use them, but usually save them for clean-up for after I've played through a game. For example while playing MW3, my husband and I played Veteran campaign first then went through the Chapter Select on Recruit to find all of the intel.

I could had used a map in Infamous but I decided not to and those blast shards were not that big of a deal but I did use a map for GTA IV pigeons though were to small.

I did the inFAMOUS blast shards without a map. Only took me 3 hours after finishing the game to clean up the shards. Wasn't that hard.
Now, Assassin's Creed? That's a different matter. I used my strat guide maps for 2 and BH, but because they included an unlockable map in Revelations, I used the in-game feature for that one. I usually try to find as many as I can myself, then use a guide to help me find the others. I rarely use map checklists.
