Pretty neat, i think this is going to be badass but if it doesn't work for the next gen of consoles it might prove useless to most games ._.

It'll at least be useful for future PC releases.

Looks awesome but seems pretty pointless if it doesn't run well on next gen consoles since they make most of their money from console games and other developers paying to use their engine but could be moot since next gen is couple years out

    Nvidia 680 in Australia = $700 to $900
    Nvidia 690 in Australia = $1550 to $1750

...and that's if you know where to shop.

Little wonder the next-gen consoles don't have a hope of running Unreal Engine 4 at full tilt. We can buy at least a 720 and PS4 for the price of one Nvidia 680 card, not to mention all of the other PC components like mobo, RAM, HDD, case, power supply...

That's why console gaming is currently dominating - high-end PC gaming is fucking expensive! I can't wait for the Steam Box, I'm sick of blowing $3000 every 3 years on a PC gaming rig just to play the latest games.

That looks insane. The weather effects were immense. I think Square's next-gen engine looks even better though; the hair on the characters was pretty much life-like.

Now that's what the game would look like in-game.

it actually is if you watch the developer video.

not to mention how well epic games treats devs that use their engine.

No it isn't... If you compare the graphics on the Knight in the developer video and then in the cinematic you'll know it's not in-game.

They didn't show the knight up close in the developer video, and when they did they used completely different textures than what he currently has.

i still believe it was in-game.

I'm with PS360 on this one.

The entire point of the video is to show off the engine's capabilities. A pre-rendered CGI movie doesn't have anything to do with a game engine. To showcase Unreal Engine 4 the movie needs to be rendered in-game, in real-time, otherwise it's completely without merit as a tech demo.

But I mentioned I was not impressed earlier because it looked totally like a Blizzard (Warcraft, Diablo) CGI movie to me. If it is actually in-game, then we will have to see first how well they will apply that into an actual game, but for now, I am still not convinced.

A more interesting next-gen engine was shown in the Agnis Philosophy video by Square Enix:

Now, that is actually more impressive. ^^
