What do you mean by hard drive thing?

I also forgot to add that I backed up all our save data on a usb as there was a lot that wouldn't fit online. It didn't take too awful long either!

There is a way to completely avoid ever getting the YLOD. Unfortunately it involves buying a PS3 and displaying it as a piece of modern art to be admired but never powered up.

YLOD stands for the Yellow Light of Death. It is Playstations version to the Red Ring of Death that XBOX's get.

I saw on youtube if you got a slim PS3 you can take out the power supply and hold in the eject button and replace the cable then it will start a pre programmed self clean where the fan goes into overdrive and blows the dust out , I have done this myself and it seemed to work just fine , plus I vacuum it on occasion as well

almost anyone can avoid getting the YLOD as long as they press the correct buttons during QTE'S

no truly keep your ps3 ventilated and clean from dust and avoid playing or leaving it on for many hours like 8 hours straight
(im speaking about phats of course) and best if standed up
