claims that his recognizes the usb if something is plugged into the port at startup. Maybe give that a try. If it's the driver
rather than the port, this could work. It might help you figure out if it's worth trying a replacement.
Oh? Well that would be swell lol. I'll try it when I get home tomorrow morning.

As long as the motherboard is the EXACT SAME model, then swapping the boards should (in theory) work. I look forward to hearing the resolution of your issue.
That's what I was thinking. If the ^driver problem^ isn't the issue then I will probably end up trying the motherboard thing. I'll keep you guys posted. Wish me luck. :/ lol

Also keep the ideas coming! If the current possible solutions don't pan out.. More ideas are always needed lol.

TIME OUT on the MB swap ..... if ya do a MB swap the "new" mb will have a diffrent Serial number than the old one... which your HD is linked too.. so the second you power it up it will say "wrong/bad HD Format required to continue"

Oeps, real good point here!!!! So the only solution would be indeed repairing the usb slots?

Lol I should have realized that. Yea and it turns out my neighbor doesn't have a PS3 remote. So that wouldn't work lol. Also the boot while trying to connect didn't work either. Soooo... USB fix is the only option? Sigh... lol fine.

Oh and one last ludicrous idea.. Is there by chance a way to register a controller via Ethernet port? Lol probably not but hey why not mention it.

If you have a Bluetooth keyboard that's already paired to the console, you may be able to use it to data transfer.

This will not work, as the HDD will prompt to be formatted as soon as it enters any other PS3.

I know you can connect a PS3 controller to a PC, is there a way to activate a controller on the PS3 thru the internet or something?

When the defaults were reset, everything that was connected to it was disconnected.

I was wondering about that and from what I have found the answer is no. At least at the screen I am stuck at.

Theres the option of a remote start from a psp but you said you reset everything. Theres also a method of using bravia sync which allows you to use your tv remote as a controller, depending on the tv you have it might work but you would need an HDMI cable v1.4. You should look into it.
