Oh Kalifonian sun, how I missed you. It is so much more colourful and not grey like in England. What are they, Romulans in that country or something? Now V, I know you are all about being proud to be from East Germany, and that’s cool fighting the man and everything, but next time can you tone the uniform down a bit? Kali is the most liberal state in America but even they will draw the line with the hammer and sickles mixed with German fetish leather. Next up, Episode 17: Four Letters: EPIK. Who’s this Jerry Brown guy on the governor signs? I thought this was Arnold territory? I’ve been talking like Eurotrash all this time saying California with a stuck-up preppy German accent for nothing? Facepalm

Lasombra: When did you start gaming?
Epic:Hard to say, simply put when I was young my dad got me a PSone along w/ games like Gex & Crash Bandicoot. Ever since I've always loved & enjoyed playing games. I took it upon myself as I got older & followed up w/ games like Metal Gear Solid on to the PS2, Xbox, 360, PS3, PC. & yes I've played older systems like Super Nintendo.
Lasombra: How did you choose your PSN name?
Epic:Well I'm not too sure how but I know for fact it did take me some time to obtain. I always want a good solid name that flows, none of that UniMaginative72x kind of names. I was just thinking of words to piece together (& looking up meanings) like Relentless, Epic (etc) I thought of "Chaos" which led to "Chaotic-" which then led to the adverb "Chaotically" but as I said also had Epic in mind (which is a word I've used multiple previous usernames) & thought, hm.. & there you have it Chaotically-Epic.
Lasombra: What motivated you to become a trophy hunter? What was your initial spark?
Epic:Trophy hunting to me is just something that goes w/ being a gamer. As for that first spark I am not too sure, it’s just the satisfaction of having a profile for others to see accomplishments. (100% & plats).
Lasombra: Are you a trophy hunter, platinum hunter, or a specific hunter? (Example: All GoW game hunter)
Epic: OF course I am a trophy hunter to the max, as I just said it's just something that comes w/ being a gamer in general. I always set out to obtain a plat for games I enjoy or play but I do mostly wish them to be all offline trophies since I despise online trophies & I will mainly start the "serious hunting" phase on a second playthrough since any first playthrough of a game must be for the experience. I also am no trophy whore though, & when I say that I mean playing idiotic games like CSI & Hannah Montana.
Lasombra: How many hours do you dedicate to trophy hunting?
Epic:Whenever I'm playing pretty much. I currently play a lot of hours within a week.
Lasombra: What motivates you to go for that next trophy? How do you stay motivated after a long gaming session, particularly with grinding trophies?
Epic:What motivates me is the satisfaction in accomplishing everything your game has to throw at you.
Lasombra: Have you ever gone through any burnout from your sessions?
Epic: Yes I have & I completely hate when that feeling happens because honestly, it scares the shit outta me. Seriously, it's that feeling when you are just completely burnt out from gaming in general to the point where you don't even want to think about or play games. When I say scares me, its cause I never want to stop gaming ever. I want to enjoy it throughout my life like some older members around here. Some are married, have jobs & kids but still find some time to game which makes me happy knowing such a thing exists but so far I've come back each time after a good break or two or when that epic game releases. Reasons for those feelings at times for me were from trophy grinding, too much gaming, lack of games interested in etc.
Lasombra: What is your proudest platinum? Why? Was it your hardest?
Epic: I've had a few more plats throughout my time besides just the ones on my current PSN but I honestly never really had any trouble obtaining the plats I've been through. IF I had to choose though I guess Bad Company 2, not that it's hard but I did have trouble & headaches trying to boost it which took some time.
Lasombra: Do you have a trophy goal for the year? If so, how far are you along in it?
Epic: Um, I don't know if I have a certain amount of trophies wish to obtain or anything like that but I do have a backlog of games (trophies / plats) I wish to accomplish & catch up on. NCAA 12, Uncharted 1-3, God of War Collection / III, Pac Man DX, BF1943, MW2, BF3, Dead Space / Dead Space 2. So far some I haven't even started & some I am just switching off too.
Lasombra: Do you believe gamers should be allowed to make trophy hunting teams? Why or why not?
Epic: Well in a way not really but then again who am I to say, it doesn't matter. People will do what they wanna do but I wouldn't do that myself. I'd like to work & earn everything on my own.
Lasombra: Do you think Sony should create a world database with every user’s PSN trophy info for all to see? Why or why not?
Epic: Another thing that IMO doesn't matter, either way if not we have other sources to view PSN information but if something like that does happen they it's just another nice feature out there.
Lasombra: What tips do you have for someone trying to reach the next level and going after a difficult platinum?
Epic: If you mean tips as in a strategy master attack plan for trophy hunting & obtaining a plat then here is what I do, first check out the helpful information & tips through trophy guides & narrow the trophies down from missable (if any) to collectables (if any), always have those trophies as first priority& make a note if you have to on paper so you won't forget what part is the missable parts of the game or where those collectables are at. Also check if there is a play on "Insane difficulty" trophy but must have Hard completion done first trophy, if so then always play on difficulty that will unlock next difficulty first to avoid more than two playthroughs. I always do online last, get ALL SP trophies then MP after. If you must copy & paste certain important sections of the guide but edit it & simplify it from important to not & print it out w/ Microsoft Word. Kinda like a checklist so that you’re easily aware of those important trophies (collectibles / missable sections) while playing & you can check / highlight things off once you complete it. Anything after that should be a cleanup.
Lasombra: In your occupation you said you want to try out something in the game design field. What specifically did you want to do in it?
Epic: I haven't really been able to figure it out yet but there are a handful of positions available to study in the industry ranging from being a Designer (Animator, Level Designer, Artist etc) to a Writer or Programmer the list goes on & I honestly would be happy anywhere when the time comes. I feel I have a highly creative mind & love for gaming.
Lasombra: You say you’re a trophy hunter instead of being a platinum hunter. When you look at a trophy card what is more impressive to you, the number or platinums or the number of total trophies?
Epic: I'm not sure what I said when I did my form fill out months ago but let me just clarify I love earning platinum's & will attempt doing so nearly every time & at worst if I fail I will try to obtain as much trophies as I can to make the percentage overall look good or above 75%. As for what is the most impressive, the platinum's are, it requires a lot more attention & work to obtain them each time rather than popping in a game & getting a easy story related bronze trophy ding.
Lasombra: The viewers at home need to know, what game broke the bat...um, I mean you. What game gave you the scary burnout feeling you never want to experience again?
Epic: Hmm, not sure if I can recall a game specifically burning me out but I do know I've had that feeling multiple times which I hate, perhaps it's more than one game when it happens, constantly working on them / playing them hours upon hours back to back.
Lasombra: Whats the difference between a trophy hunter and a trophy whore for you? Where is the line drawn in the sand for games you won't play to add to your trophy case?
Epic: A trophy hunter to me is simply a trophy hunter, they play nearly any game that interests them & usually has that first playthrough for self enjoyment of the game itself while on the other hand IMO, a trophy whore is one that plays a game that clearly isn't worth playing or interesting *cough* Hannah Montana. & obviously asks if game a) or b) is worth playing for the trophies etc.
Lasombra: This is the tough question I've got to ask you. Please, ignore the fact that this episode is being sponsored by Phoenix Energy Drinks, for when you need that rebirth to level up. What is your gaming snackage for your epic marathon sessions?
Epic: I tend not to eat anything that will get my hands / fingers scuffy *cough* Doritos, I usually only have drinks during my sessions. Mostly soda cause soda is epic. Coca-Cola / Dr. Pepper ftw.
Let’s see, rope? Check! Survival pack? Check! Icing sugar? Check! Alright V, we seem to have everything. Some things have kept me up these past nights thinking. What is the fate of mankind, where the toilet water goes when I flush, and why there has been a giant hole in the sky hanging over England the past month. I think that country and I are destined to dance the mamushka together, no wait, that can’t be the right dance...What do you think V? V? V! Wake up, onwards into Episode 18: The Unknown Hourglass. It’s a good thing I moved on to icing sugar. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to jump into a portal leading to the unknown without it. Hey! Wait for me!
