Definitely siding with disc on this one. Love to have something I can touch and put on a shelf. I can't ever seem to sell any of my games (mostly seeing as how little cash I can get for them) and it's good to actually see a collection building up that I've spent thousands of $ on.

Disc for sure, lots of appeal in having a pile of games on the shelf

I also prefer my games on disc, just like my cd's.
Same goes for books, I like to have paper books on my shelf instead of e-books.

All my music is on cd, movies on blu ray and game on whatever format they're on. When people tells me that the future is only in digital download, the only thing I have to say to prove them wrong is: PSP Go

    My gaming rig : i5 3570k 4 x 4.8ghz
    Asus Maximus V gene z77
Gigabyte GTX 670 OC + Asus GTX 670 DCU II OC
    Corsair Force GS 360gb ssd
    Corsair Vengeance 4 x 4gb 1600mhz RAM

Physical format is far superior for content and quality.

Download has it's place, but will never fully take over. I had a bunch of digital movies saved on my old fat ps3 and when she flat out DIED, I was told "F off...buy new licenses" So there's that.

I will always love the romantic process of:

Looking forward to the release of a game or movie -> talking about the day it is going to come out -> taking an early lunch to get there early -> SEEING it for the first time!!! -> BSing with the cashier about it -> waiting until I get home from work -> riding home with my new copy sitting next to me -> and finally THE EXPERIENCE of opening the game or movie and playing it for the first time. You just can't beat that by hitting the download button.

Not to mention posting on the forums the next day and telling your own personal story of the release everyone else bought.
Same movie....same game....different release story for everyone.

    Digital Download = thumbs down.

I feel the same aBout my games as my magazines, I physically want it in my possession! Plus, let someone try to come to my house and take it from me! Games you download can be taken from you by the developer or Sony!

Disk all the way, unfortunately digital downloads are becoming more and more popular, but I hope disks never die out.

hopefully it stays with discs because I like having a physical copy but I can see downloads and cloud based gaming being quite popular in the next few years

I, like the majority, prefer disc.

Digital FTW, its obvious that the digital downloadable game is superior whereas discs costs more to manufacture, cases cost, books cost and publishing costs.

Digital is easier, cheaper and faster a couple of minutes and its on your device.

You'd expect that to be true but it's not. Atleast not yet. Retail forever, because I love physical copies and not to mention it's almost always cheaper. DD is always at a set price and can never be negotiated unless a sale happens. Retail will always be negotiable.

The only benefit I see from DD is say on PSN, the fact that 99% of the games can be dl'ed and played on 5 ps3's. So it's like getting 5 of the same game for 1 price.... Until they set DD to a real legit and cheap price, I'll never go DD. Too fking expensive.

Disc games load slow, they run slow and are very choppy at times. Take the same game on my HDD runs nice and smooth. Why anyone would prefer a disc over a DL version is beyond me.

I hope it goes all digital tomorrow. Getting off my ass to swap a disc is a real pain. Lol
I wouldn't say soon. Maybe in 10-20 years, but not in a few. Disc games only run slow if they have a lot of content to read. The same is said about games on a HD. It does not run nice and smooth. But another reason I prefer disc over a DL version is because I don't feel like having 9-20gb games on my almost full 1tb drive. That's beyond retarded if you ask me.

It totally depends on the game imo.
For some games i prefer downloading, because it's cheaper and you can share them with friends (gamesharing).
But some games, like God of War, i just GOT to have them on disc.
One of my greatest possesions :
