Countless things in my case such as......
    • Geography from playing World Cup Italia 90, more than school taught me anyway
    • History from games such as Medal Of Honor, Assassins Creed and Metal Gear Solid ( Note i mean the bits that actually happened ).
    • The concept of stealth from Tenchu and Metal Gear, seriously, it saved me from being arrested (petty vandalism, kids stuff ).
So, care to tell me what nuggets you have gleamed from games?
Thats fucking awesome , video games stopped me from being arrested LOL rep on its way
Would like to thank Google and snipping tool for my amazing sig + avatar

I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM ANY MAN WHO AGREED WITH ME

To be conscious that you are ignorant of the facts is a great step to knowledge

-How to stay healthy around radiation. Pop some Rad-X!

-Always reload BEFORE you turn a corner + reload after every kill

-Double tap zombies/necromorphs (from zombieland and dead space)

'But I dont want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that.' said the Cat: 'We're all mad here. I'm mad, you're mad.'
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
'You must be,' said the Cat, 'Or you wouldn't have come here.'

New one being GTA based: you can settle any petty squabble by killing someone.

That if one was to be in a real war would be to check corners and double-check shadows. Also learnt techniques on how to knock people out and win fist-fights (and in some cases sword-fights). Also learnt a bit of history in some games like Age of Mythology and Assassins Creed. That when driving to always wear your seatbelt no matter what happens. Learnt a bit of physics and how objects react to events. How to scavenge in the event of a post-apocalyptic world.

    Etc etc etc

I could go on beyond the word limit if there is one if I keep typing.

Arkham City, showed me how justice is really served, but Max Payne 3, showed me how to be a One Man Army.

Persona 4's taught me effective time management skills, better than anything I learned in college . And that bad things happen on rainy nights.

I learned that it's fun to rape zombies with a chainsaw while wearing a skirt.

That electricity is actually fun to play with & surfing on powerlines is fun.

That it's a good idea to check to see if I have a parachute before riding my BMX off a roof.

That there is a serious lack of women in Pandora & way too many weapons.

Finally I have learned that I like to play games with female characters as I would rather look at their rear for 50+ hours

Well mostly basic things that become 2nd nature so they soemtimes aren't given credit.

    Mathematics

Organization (swapping around loot/items to your liking)

Stealth (almost no one needs to know how to sneak up on someone, but it's SO fun)

A Sense of Urgency (Chases/Escapes/ Survival Elements)

Geometry (Tetris & I'm sure other games as well)

    Problem Solving

    Quick Thinking

    Coordination

    Reading/Comprehension

and I'm sure I missed more. Video Games are a great resource to get 2nd nature skills. My wife's little brother was having trouble with his reading. He got a Wii one Xmas and has done fine ever since. I can't remember if Sonic or some old games taught me anything but the skills are here now and I know I got them from somewhere.

    Great Topic

Certain videogames taught me about moral choices and having to live with the consequences, games like Heavy Rain and Fallout 3

Ohh you know this and that ...

    Gaming wisdom:
    - When parkouring always make sure to have a random ass bale of hay around to break your 5000ft fall (Assassins creed)

    - That Serbians LOVE to go bowling (GTA IV, Roman I am looking at you xD)

    - That getting shot isn't that big of a deal, just got to get to cover for a few seconds until my health regenerates ... ohh and blood looks like jelly (Any COD mainly though any FPS these days would pretty much cover this)

    - That having no ladder in my swimming pool will result in a slow painful death, until I finally drown (The Sims)

    - The German had about a 1000 times as many grenades during ww2 as the rest of the world COMBINED (COD WAW)

    - That I always got to pay bills out of my ass for doctors, car repairs and damn taxes, while everyone else seems to win the lottery or have a birthday constantly (Anyones who has played Monopoly knows what I am talking about)

    The list goes on really

Thanks to Dsluckay for the signature and Avatar

    Hmm...

Assassin's Creed II/Brotherhood/Revelation - I learned some Italian phrases from playing these games. I only knew a couple of words in Italian before I played these games, so they taught me a tiny bit of a new language! Also, they do feature elements of historical truth to them, so they have that going for them too.

Metal Gear Solid - learned some info about nuclear weapons/warfare, about Chernobyl... and that cardboard boxes make excellent hiding places!

Afrika - packed with information on the many animals found within the game - their habitats, lifestyles, diets, and so on.

Alex Kidd - that any significant dispute can, will, and must be settled by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Skyrim taught me that if I ever want to rob a store, I just need to put a bucket on everyone's head first.
