I'm surprised no one has said MGS3 yet, besides me.

Thanks to Bladia for the amazing Sig and Avy.

Back in the day, I remember one game that did get me to cry. It was the first and the last. Grandia for the playstation is the one that got me. A lot of the new games do get me chocked up but I haven't shed a tear since. But, sadly, grandia has gone down the drain.

Video games lack the emotionally evocative power of film. I can appreciate the stories and have empathy for the characters, but it's far too unrealistic for me to connect to any real-life experience, which is necessary for me to become emotionally invested.

I'm also acutely aware that video game characters are only bits and pixels and will die in countless ways before I even get to a climax in a storyline, so yet another death is emotionally redundant.
Yes, it was my thread before the site crash and I remember you said something similar to this.

To answer your thread. Yes, I cried when a certain someone died in FF VII (people who played it probably know who) and also felt teary eyed because of the ending in FF Crisis Core, Suikoden 1 etc.

I can cry as long something has a sad, emotional story (I can relate to). Movies, games, Anime, books, you name it. Still, I don't think I'm a crybaby though.. The story has to be really sad for me to cry about it. Doesn't matter if it's just a pixelized character on a screen, or words in a book. The story and my imagination do the rest I guess. I love it of any what I said above can make me cry though, because they mostly end up as being my favorites.

Back in the day, MGS2 when Emma Emmerich died by Vamp, I bawled like a baby.
More recently, in AC: Brotherhood, when Cristina Vespucci died, it put a lump in my throat.

And I concur with you, good sir. Forgot about the dramatic ending to one of the best games of all time. Obviously I need to go play it again.

If a Visual Novel count as a game, I have. If not, I have yet to shed a tear for a game. So far. Lol

Episode 5 of The Walking Dead was a gutpuncher, much like Episode 3, involve kids and it's instantly more heartwrenching.

Other than that, yeah, a few times, Metal Gear Solid 1-4 had little moments ( Meryl, E.E. Boss and Big Boss moments ). Red Dead, even though i knew what was coming thanks to internet spoiler bastards and the Heavy Rain ending.

I'll be honest, back in the years 2002/2003 when i finished Final Fantasy X. The ending made me sad and i cried like a little baby.. I don't know, the game just really got to me and since then it was my best FF ever.

I can't wait for FFX HD!

For me trophies have become an integral part of gaming, like a stereo in a car. Is it really necessary? No. Is it a lot more fun with it though? Hell yeah!
