I have done this fix a few times myself when my old fat boy YLOD on me. And while it worked for me to get it up and running again it was not a permanent fix. I tried using it like before and every so often it would YLOD again. But if all you are doing is trying to save your info it should work well for you.

Good luck with that dude! Haven't had this happen to me yet, but don't want to jinx it or maybe this guy would make it happen.

Well, I replaced the paste on mine after almost 6 years of its life and that did nothing at all

Might throw it out, sell it, or replace something. Currently using my slim.

    Well done mate.

I got the YLOD back in March and watched all sorts of videos, similar to your post, but after I did all the work, it still didn't work

It was a fatboy and I even had a game in the machine, I couldn't part with it, the game or the console. I ended up sending it to Sony for a total revamp. Now I'm happy as pie

Until you get equipped to re-ball a PS3, you wont be doing anyone justice.

Your current re-flow fix is temporary at best, and will eventually need 'fixing' again, and again.

No thanks, lol. I generally fix 5 or more PS3s and 360s each month for some cash on the side.

Glad you got your issue fixed though.

There is a permanent fix, but it's too delicate a procedure for the average DIY repair and the equipment isn't as easy to come by.
