    Question

My wife's PS3 randomly losses connection to her tv. She will be in the middle of a game and suddenly it will show that there are no components connected. The tv is still on. We have checked to make sure that the HDMI cable is connected and there is no issue with that. It is a fairly new PS3 (about 18 months old). It has never been dropped or rattled. It gets sufficient airflow and never overheats. After turning it off and back on, it shows that it is connected like there is no issue.

Anybody have any idea what is wrong or ever had it happen to them?

Try a different port on the TV, a different cable, or a completely different TV. This will help you narrow down the the possibilities.

It could be the cable itself. The heat from the t.v or PS3 could be the issue that is given a false detection of the cable not being connected. It happens to me as well. I would say get a can of air then blow all the dust out but I will try that before I suggest it to you as a good fix.

This happened to me on my old TV an LCD Samsung , I think it happened to mine because it only had 3 HDMI ports and I would swap the PS3 for the PC often and I think it led to a loose connection , if you have not been changing the cable then it could be something else , I fixed mine by getting a new cable .
