Hardwired or wireless: Are you helping or hurting the PSN community?

When people experience lag online, I firmly believe that 95% of the time it's not peoples' internet speed that is bad, it's because they are relying on their wireless router when they should have their PS3 plugged in directly with an ethernet cable. Even if you have a really good wireless router, it still will never be as good as having a solid hardwired connection.

So my message for everyone today is, if your PS3 is close enough to plug in, please do so. And if it's not, bust out the drill and start making holes in your wall.

I do wired for that same reason. I use to play Assassin's Creed MP a lot and trust me over at that forum, threads and threads lag issues. That game is sensitive, so I used only wired for a more solid connection. BUT I don't expect anyone to flip-flop their setup just to be wired. I only do it because my modem is close to my PS3 anyway.

    Wireless.

    I don't play much online, so I don't think I'm hurting anyone.

Wifi, and strong enough to support large lobbies. Though I prefer wired, it's not a plausible alternative at the moment.

Always wired, where possible. The only trouble I've ever had with the PSN is on a wireless connection.

I've piped cat5e cable into every room in my house to avoid flaky wireless connections. When there's a dozen wireless devices all competing for the same bandwidth on different protocols (some G, others N), it quickly becomes an issue.

I just went permanet wired about 2 weeks ago. It took some army crawling under the house and the help of my electrician friend turbodog22 (chris).
All it took was 1 hour.

Now Im rolling with 18-20 mb finally

*sigh* would love to go wired, but drilling a hole in my floor just doesn't seem that appealing whenever I get to think about getting it done ...
Well that and the fact that I would need one long ass extension cord to get my cable from my PS3 through the floor and into my router ... yeah Im really just making up excuses to cover up my laziness but ehh

^ this except i hardly ever play online, i'm really more of a solo gamer

Edit- Though i'm not against a wired connection, if only my router was close enough I am against holes in walls

Wireless, i have rarely had a problem my end even when the internet is weak on laptops and phones, the console stays steady and strong, usually, it's other people that ruin the social side of gaming ( ironic, i know ).

Wired, yet online play is rare for me. My computer desk and tv stand are right beside each other, so I just sit in my desk chair and game.

I can't get rid of my stinkin' NAT 3 lol.

Yea I had wired for a while then I moved my PS3 to my room about 2 years ago now I'm wireless. I saw no difference in connection quality, actually. Granted mine down/upload speed REALLY sucks lol. (2 MB Down, .3 MB Up) :/ I play COD frequently too lol.

I've had a wired broadband connection for years now, and my PS3 runs off that. I've rarely had any problems with online connectivity whilst playing, and if I experience any lagging, then it's most likely due to another player or the servers themselves.

Wired connection for me. In my house now I have four roommates each with cell phones, ipads, laptops, desktops, etc... The wireless speed quickly deteriorated compared to a direct line so when I bought this house, I ran four new cat 5 runs from my router to various rooms.

Wireless. Haven't tried wired but I'm tempted to see if it will make a difference.
