    Console life question

I have heard the term "console life" a couple times and not completely sure what it means. Is it supposed to be the amount of time before the console will stop working for whatever reason or is it the lifespan for which current technology will work before a new console comes out? Thanks in advance

Actually I believe it is the time the company will support the console.. Like the PS2 had a 13 year console life because they just stopped supporting it...

Like said, it's how long a company supports their system.

Kazunori Yamauchi on the development of Gran Turismo 1:
It took five years. In those five years, we could not see the end. I would wake up at work, go to sleep at work. It was getting cold. so I knew it must be winter. I estimate I was home only four days a year.
