Tales of Graces F vs. Ni No Kuni

This is a discussion on Tales of Graces F vs. Ni No Kuni within the General PS3 Discussion forum, part of the Everything PlayStation; I am looking at getting one of these games. Which has the better gameplay/story?! Which would you prefer? Thanks....

I can't say that I have ever played any of the Tales games, but I just finished Ni no Kuni yesterday. The game is a damn masterpiece. It has not only restored my faith in jrps, but has also given them a new standard.

Excellent feedback. It seems like Ni No Kuni is the more widespread game. Many people seem to have enjoyed it. Would you say it is entirely linear? Did you like the attack system or did it get too repetitive?

Ive only played about 15 hrs of Ni No Kuni but I really enjoyed what Ive played so far. Ive never played ToG F I have heard alot of good things about that aswell. I went to gamestop in the same situation as you was gonna get both but left with Ni No Kuni. Now you gotta make the decision whichever calls out to you the most I suppose.

No Ni no Kuni is completely wide open with hardly any linearity and tons of side quests to do. The battle system is so good. It is like Pokemon mixe with the Tales games. A lot of people are saying that the game only took them 30 hours to beat, but it personally took me 55 hours. I did a bunch of sidetracking inbetween though. So yeah its a huge game and you could easily spend 100 hours in it getting the plat.

I'm 82 hrs into Ni No Kuni...and I haven't played Tales, so my choice would be one sided...

its a great game...classic rpg feel, reminds me of playing Albert's odessey for the Saturn...because of the twist mid way in the game...but I recommend Ni No Kuni...

Get tales of graces f if you love cliche anime FRIENDSHIP plots

fun gameplay, but it seems Ni no Kuni is the better game.

Tales of Graces has a good battle system but the story is kinda short and meh. Go with Ni No Kuni.

I've only played Tales of Graces f (I have the Platinum.) and I quite enjoyed it, so I'll throw a little love behind it. The battle system I thought was great and people may rag on the lot a lot, but I was fine with it on the whole. And even if you don't quite enjoy the main part, a lot of what happens in the Skits is absolutely hilarious, especially when you get to the f Arc. Those who have met the Mask of Barona know what I'm talking about.

(And, yes, those are Tales of Graces f characters in my avatar-- the star of the game on the right.)

Having now played both, I can safely say that for me, Tales of Graces f is definitely the preferred game, but I realize my tastes my be rather different.
