EA registers domains for Battlefield 13 through 20...

Electronic Arts using a known third-party service registered the dot-com domains for Battlefield's 13-20. Fusible took note of the registrations, going on to mention that EA owns most of the Battlefield domains between one and 20 now. Battlefield 4 is expected to launch later this year.

Although the initial instinct may be to call this long-term planning a little overdone, it's not so crazy if Battlefield takes the annualized approach la an EA Sports title. Battlefield '14through Battlefield '20 doesn't sound so crazy now.

Update: Rock, Paper, Shotgun has picked up Battlefield21.com in the starry-eyed hopes of cashing in. It's a gold rush, folks. Don't get left behind!

And to think that BF21 will be similar to 20 but just with minor graphical updates...

I'd like to think this is more due to them wanting to be on the safe side and avoid having to pay some other guys (like Rock, Paper, Shotgun now) for said domains.

    Two possibilities here.

1 - They're just protecting themselves from squatters who are somewhere in the internet hierarchy between trolls and girls who post duck face selcas. Can't blame them for that honestly.

2 - Battlefield is going to end up the same route as EA sports, and instead of going with numbered installments, are going to have the year in the title. It's about a 50/50 chance, especially if the Medal of Honor franchise is as dead as it appears to be.

EDIT: Next time I'll read the entire article instead of just the twitter heading. Doh!

EA Are going to ruin another great series and turn it the way of COD.... shame. I've only had Battlefield 3 but its got better value than COD that a game every 2 years would be sufficient in which case there wouldn't be a Battlefield 20 till 2047.

I think a series has more longevity if its released 2 years apart with exception of Sports games.
