PS3 to stop trophy syncing late this year?

My friend was telling me that later this year Sony will stop the syncing process for the PS3 and will no longer support it. Has anyone heard any news regarding this or not?

He said once the PS4 is fully out that we will no longer be able to sync ps3 trophies.

I honestly doubt that they will do that this early. Sony was still manufacturing PS2's till what, the third year of PS3's era? It would be bad marketing to do so, since they know that not everyone will be able to buy a 400 dollar system this early, and some people will now be buying a PS3 since Sony will be focusing more on PS4 games and capability.

I'd imagine PS3 to be fully supported until at least 2018.

I mean, they just quit publishing PS2 games in the last few years.

not only that but they kept the ps1 around for most of the ps2 era, so them cutting off the ps3 this quick is unheard of, you must be thinking of Nintendo

Yeah, there's no way this is true. There are way too many games still coming out next year that we already know about for them to turn off trophy syncing. And really, what the hell would be the point in doing so? That would only be shooting themselves in the foot, as there are still plenty of games for people to buy and play that are already out and will be coming out, and turning off something like trophy syncing before announcing something like "not supporting the PS3 for online play" would be simply retarded.
Tales of Xillia 2 is coming out second half of next year, as well as KH HD 2.5 ReMIX and Drakengard 3, and Tales of Zestiria in 2015. Those are just the few I'm paying attention to, as most other games that have my attention are also coming to PS4.
Unless he gave you a verifiable source, tell him to stuff it where the sun don't shine.

There's no point in Sony stopping the syncing progress for the PS3. How would that benefit them? And stop syncing trophies but keep supporting online play? No, there is no turning back, trophies are here to stay, no matter what console.

I doubt this is real ps4 still has a long way to go the catch up to the fame the ps3 has made so until that happens i'm sure the ps3 will stay strong for many more years to come.

yeah, cool answer! Give you a rep for that!

I don't think it will ever happen, since the PS3 & PS4 trophies are somehow "connected"
