Normally, I'd agree with you, but not in this case. You can't judge Mass Effect 2 by its demo and that's a fact. I had played the demo as well before some time and it left me with the feeling that it's nothing special. After playing the full game though, my opinion totally changed.

Nier - This might be my favorite story of all time. The game is pretty underrated on the mainstream circuit, but it has a big cult following, and rightfully so. I'd often lose track of time playing this one.

Dragon Age : Origins - I loved the story, and there's a lot of lore in it if you like going a step further and reading extra content. It's almost like there's an optional novel within the game giving you a history on the entire world and timeline (again, optional, and does not pertain to the story you play through). There is also great dialogue and banter between your party.

Dante's Inferno - It's a great adaptation of the first part of Dante's epic "Divine Comedy". The gameplay is pretty much the same as God of War, so you'll know what you're getting into before you fire it up.

I mentioned it . With me, it was the reverse. I played it because I had read the book. They did a great job with it.

If Yakuza and Yakuza 2 were any indication, you should definitely check out 3 and 4. Y1 and 2 were awesome and I'll definitely go for 3 and 4 down the line. First two had a good plot and Y3/4 were well received. They feature Japanese VA (which I actually prefer).

Just started Mass Effect 2 so can't comment on it, but it does seem gripping.

Red Dead Redemption is really good, one of my favourites so far.

Also to get a vibe of the game you can download the demo and watch some trailers.
i wouldn't call Bioshock a "horror game" per se, but it does creep you out at times. It really is a visually beautiful game with a 1950s art deco style.

Bioshock and Heavy Rain. btw, don't skip Assassin's Creed II just because you didn't like the first, II is a great game.

I would highly recommend that you atleast start with Metal Gear Solid. You do not have to go back to Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 on the NES and SNES. Basically the whole Metal Gear story is based around Metal Gear Solid. You can buy it on the ps store for $10. Then the MGS HD Collection comes out later this year which includes MGS2 and MGS3 for PS3. After that MGS4 will feel like a masterpiece.

I'd put Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time up there, especially if you like the R&C series.

I'd have to say bioshock, heavy rain, and fallout 3. All of these in my opinion have amazing stories as well as great gameplay

Dead Island is supposed to have one of the most dull and uninspiring stories. It's actually a shame since this game got so hyped up for it's story.

Can't really go wrong with Heavy Rain as far as a story is concerned.

Red Dead Redemption I feel had a great story. I was always hanging to get through a mission to see what was coming up next.
Heavy Rain was probably the best story I've seen in a game. It started off slow but finished with a bang. I honestly didn't see it coming. Defiantly get this game if you haven't played it yet and you like a good story. The only problem with it is the shelf life. It's not a game you would play through multiple times.
