I get this message quite a lot when BBC iPlayer, 4oD and the internet in general crashes (which seems to happen quite often)..
And yeah, sending that report hasn't changed anything

I get that message on occasion. I actually don't get the message when the system freezes more than I do, either way it pisses me off.

It's basically the same as on a PC when you send an error report to Microsoft. They probably use them for something, just we never see the results.

It's just some hacker stealing your credit card info; don't worry about it.

^^ this. It's to help locate the problem and send in the data to Sony so they can determine if it is a software issue and if they need to patch it up if enough people have the problem. But way I see it, a lot of developers have issues developing some games properly(FallOut 3/NV), so most freezes and such are due to games. Nothing Sony really has to worry about.

Listening to your own music whilst on Internet Browser causes crashes easily.

I've learnt that multiple times. BUT, if the console crashes, but the music carries on, it hasn't crashed. Ya just gotta wait.

This. So many times when I've been coming out of the browser and the system crashes. Infuriating.

Actually they do quite a bit with the data, as someone who works as a research engineer I am on the other end of that "Send" button frequently (1/4th of my job is to diagnose and solve technical issues for my customer), although not for Sony.

If you look at the data in those memory dumps, it helps us track and determine where the errors are happening. The statement "they don't do shit about it" is somewhat false, now we can't fix everything but sometimes it helps us with making the next round of patches or sometimes it helps us improve the next version.

In Sony's case I am 99% sure what happens is it dumps the entire stack and the line of code to a Sony engineer as well as the error code. That then goes into a database and their engineers are looking at the % of reports of each error code. They start tackling the largest %s and work their way down.

Sometimes the problem is not in Sony's control though and may be caused by 3rd party software (like games). Sony reports it to them and then moves on... Sometimes the problem is very complicated and can't be fixed quickly... Othertimes the problem is so infrequent that it gets put very low on the list.
Gauss's Piracy Uncertainty Principle: When you pirate a game, that act inherently changes the results of what is to come after your pirating. You can't make any statement with any certainty regarding what would have happened had you not pirated the game.

    Gauss's Rating Rationale:
0-1: A game whose very existence is abhorrent to all things creative and intelligent.
2-4: A just plain bad game.
5-6: A game that has alot of mistakes, but is atleast playable and has some enjoyable sections. Good for a rent.
7: An average game, should be played at some point
8: A good game, should buy at some point
    9: A great game, day-one purchase
10: A game that goes above and beyond the generation, its transcendent.

I typically get that message when playing MAG at times, and I never report. Not like it'll make a difference except put my name out there anyway.

    Agreed.

Playing Dark Souls recently and it kept freezing quite a bit. But then my ps3 died. That was the problem for me, it was an old console.

Sometimes it occurs, but I just say "Don't Send". Like Sony cares.

    I've kinda worried about this.

    Example:
"Some information will be sent such as purchase information." Well, i've gameshared alot, and if it's not on my DL List, but my trophy list, red flag.

i get the error alot when im using the browser .... saying that sony doesnt do shit about it can sound a little arrogant ... just because after you hit send it doesnt automatically correct itself doesnt mean that they arent working on some sort of fix ...always said if you complain about something without trying to fix it your just bitching

What. I've never seen the option to report the problem to Sony.
