    PS3 Yellow Light?

    Hi guys!

New comer here, was just wondering if anyone out there knows any sure fire ways to fix that blinking yellow light problem that the fat PS3s seem to get. I apologize as I'm sure this topic has been covered before, from what I've heard it's a over-heating problem, is it possible to have it fixed or is it something that you just have to deal with?
    God bless! Long Live Play

I think you can fix it. Search the internet and there are guides/vids on how to do it if your warranty has finished

    You can either do this
    PS3 YLOD Fix Part 1 of 3 - YouTube
    PS3 YLOD Fix Part 2 of 3 - YouTube
    PS3 YLOD Fix Part 3 of 3 (Re-assembly) - YouTube
This is a great 3 part guide and if you dont wanna go through this give it to sony who can fix it for $150 if your warranty has expired but they'll wipe the harddrive clean or you could just buy a slim like I did

no i tried it but to no avail.anyway i wanted to see if indeed it would work and it did.i not only got my game out using the gilksy method but got my console up and running.but i knew it wouldnt last so i just ordered a recon one from sony that cost me 105 free postage.all i had to do was exchange the unit and thats that.ive had the recon console now for over a year and so far so good

I would just suggest to get a new slim model. My original PS3 got the ylod and I got it fixed by an actual business and it worked fine for the weekend and then it crashed again and I took it back 2 more times cause it was still under warranty and it happened again so I just went out and bought a slim when Walmart had them on sale for 200 bucks a couple of years ago.

That method only works on like 1 model I believe. Other than that, you would have to take it apart and fix it, or dismantle the Blu-ray player. But I highly suggest not touching the BR.

As I've posted in a bunch of YLOD threads. You can do a quick fix by yourself, which is cheap, fast, and easy but might not last that long. Or you can invest a little bit of money to reball your ps3's motherboard and possibly even do a permanent fix for the problem like I've done. Custom cases with better cooling system so it never happens again.
