I completely agree with you. There is no point on having a campaign in this game. They should should have made it a multiplayer only type of game. I bet it would have been a lot better.

The only time I skip cut scenes is when I've already played through the game...I'm sure that's why some games that don't allow you to skip cut scenes until you've already completed the level do that...to get full enjoyment out of a game...

If the story is good or not, at least acknowledge all the time that was spent producing the scenes...

For me the only game I've really not understood the story for was Resonance of Fate even after watching all the cutscenes and plating the game I still dont understand the story fully, FF13 I skipped 95% of the cutscenes as I'd already played it through twice on the Xbox.

One of my old mates on the other hand always skipped cutscenes and then wondered why he was sh*t at the game he was playing or didn't know what he was meant to do.

I always pay attention to the story of the game, because first and foremost I think that, that is what the game is all about. Then comes the multiplayer part afterwards...

Without paying attention to the story, the singleplayer part is only 10 pct. of what it actually is. I know a lot of my friends did not pay attention to the storyline during their playthrough of San Andreas... Which I think is a great shame, because GTA SA has a very nice story!!!

I never skip cutscenes for any game, otherwise you won't know whats going on in the story.

When I first beat BioShock, there were some points in the story that I didn't get, for example:

    SPOILERS

I didn't know Jack was 4 years old
    That Ryan was your father
    etc.

When I beat some games like Assassin's Creed or inFamous there are always little details that I accidentally bypass or forget, so that's when Wikis save me. I NEVER play games and not get into the story, but sometimes I miss stuff.

Just Cause 2 was so boring! I just started to not care about the story. Even the small faction side mission cut scenes I would skip, cuz the map would point me to where I need to go and a small description would tell me what to do next.
