    720p In 1080p?? Help

I just got an HDTV that is in 720p. When I go to the HD settings it says that 1080p is supported, so basically it lets me play in 1080p. Am I really playing in 1080p or what????

Thanks for the help in advanced.

My monitor is only 720p but I can go to 1080p and it looks way better but a message on my monitor always pops up and I have to change it back to 720p. I guess maybe you're not supposed to have it in 1080p for some reason. But yeah I'm pretty sure you're playing in 1080p.

If the monitor supports 1080p resolution, then yes you should be playing in that. Some monitors/tvs only go to 720p and will only broadcast in the resolution. Basically, if your screen supports it, then you can play in it.

Chances are the TV is downscaling the 1080p signal to the 720p it supports. Try configuring your ps3 to not use 1080p and see whether it looks better or worse; in any case your tv won't be applying extra processing, so response time may be improved a little that way.

If your Screen says 720p stay at 720p otherwise you could end up damaging your screen.

If you change the resolution on the ps3 to 1080p and it asks you whether you want to keep these settings, and you say yes the screen will go black for a couple of seconds. If this happens it will go back to 720p. If the screen doesnt go black then it's all good and it will be in 1080p.
