    PS3 connection troubles

    My PS3 slim model suddenly has been unable to connect to both my wired and wireless internet connections. It was working fine until about 20 minutes ago. I know it is not the internet since I can access this site on my computer.

    Any suggestions?

    Go to your Internet Settings on the PS3 and run a test on it. See if it can succeed on every test. If not, maybe reset your router/modem?

    It says it can obtain the IP Address but cannot connect to the network. It is not the router because every other system in the house is currently able to access the internet.

    Try resetting it or unplug the wires from the back of your PS3 and wait a minute or so and see if it changes.

    It's not the PS3 just keep screwing around with your internet/settings and eventually it will work. I have this problem a lot.

    Hopefully that helps, other than that I wouldn't know. Maybe just wait a bit, turn off your PS3 for a little and try again later.

    Mine has been unable to sign in for about the past hour as well. Wonder if the PSN in having a hiccup?

    I've also been having issues with my connection. It spammed a notification that an ethernet cable wasn't plugged in.

    It says:

    Obtain IP Address: Succeeded
    Internet Connection: Failed

    So i don't think its the PSN

    First of all try and restart your router, Then as you've already tried wired just mess around with your internet settings a for about 20 minutes like Schism said, if this does not work see if something is wrong with your ISP, if that doesn't work try and restore the factory default settings, you may lose your settings but it's worth it, then try and setup a DMZ or do portforwarding ( both options have the same effect), for setting up a DMZ visit : http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1718144 or the website I like better which is for port forwarding : Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model - PortForward.com, if all else fails try ringing you router manufacteur to see what the problem is, your router model can be found on the box or on the router itself ( sometimes on a sticker on the side or on the bottom of the router or on the front if not on the top of the router)

    yeah same here... i am pissed because i wanna play 1v1 with mics in madden!
    I still play Black Ops because me and brother have 2 PS3's and share a copy of Modern Warfare 3. So that is why I play it sometimes. Thats the *ONLY* time I play Black Ops! When brother is not playing MW3, I am!

    If you are running through a router, it is possible you are having an IP conflict. Even though you are getting an IP from your router, it is possible that another devise is also using the same IP. I've had this issue with other devises while setting up my Grandmother's router. She is def and has a video telephony service that takes priority over any other devises. I had to assign IPs to each devise. From what it sounds like, since it was working before, this is not the issue with your situation. It doesn't hurt to try though.

    UPDATE: It fixed itself apparently overnight, so I am closing this thread.
