There are 80 People Working on PS4 Exclusive The Order: 1886

Ready at Dawn’s upcoming alternate-history PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886 is already shaping up to be one of the prettiest titles in the next generation platform’s pipeline, but it’s not being constructed by an enormous team. While it’s normal for franchises such as Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty to command headcounts of up to 500 employees these days, a modest number of around 80 developers are working on the London-set adventure.
The snippet was revealed as part of a technical presentation anchored by the Californian studio at computer graphics conference SIGGRAPH. While the gubbins of the appearance delve pretty deeply into the nitty-gritty of the title’s visual performance, the firm did release a video showing off its textile scanning process. We’ve embedded that below in case you’re curious. You can also peruse the studio's full Powerpoint document through here, but be warned: it features mathematics equations in places. Urgh.

small teams are better simply because they can communicate better.

having 500 people work on one game is insanity.

How would you know if small teams communicate better. Are you a developer?

While small teams probably can it doesnt mean large teams can't.

Advantage of big teams is to be able to make bigger games quicker and it wouldn't be 500 people in the same area, they would be split into smaller teams working on different things.

    it's common sense.

smaller teams = better bonds = better quality

Deus EX HR had a small team and it's one of the best games around.

Haha so true about the credits...especially if your trying to get right back to brushing up trophies and there is no way to skip it.

To a certain extent, smaller teams are better because you have a tight knit team, and everyone knows what everyone else is doing. BUT in games, there is so much to be done, you need 500 people to cover it all. You could probably have a select few in the "core" team that are really developing the game, with others all chipping in for specific things that they specialize in. That said, in my experience, quality is usually better with a slightly smaller team.

Anyways, on topic, this game looks hella good so far.

I just hope this game doesn't disappoint, that teaser awhile back was awesome looking.

Not sure if I'm gonna get this one. I need more information about it first to even get excited. At first glance, it reminded me of Hunter: The Reckoning for Gamecube and the original Xbox. If it's like that, I'll give it a look.

That's really great to hear. Ready At Dawn was making PSP games before so it is great to see them spread their wings with an original game on a tv console.

I am really rooting for them and I hope they pull off a fantastic experience

Hasn't Ready At Dawn already done a game on a tv console? I, too, am hoping that it is a good game, even if it doesn't appeal to me, just because they've done phenomenal games in the past.

Hmmmm I don't think so but I'll look it up......

"goes to Ready At Dawn wiki"

Looks like they have done a Wii port of Okami and they remastered the God of War games in HD for the Origins Collection, so I guess if you really wanted to you could say that they have. But they really haven;t full out developed a game yet on a home tv console until now
