They wouldn't make extra money if everything were compatible with last-gen accessories. They've been doing this for eons. Same way a ps1 memory card wouldn't work in a ps2 console. Maybe it doesn't seem like the same thing, but it is. It's that extra thing to bring in money. Like pharmaceutical companies, and curing cancer/other diseases. They make more money "treating" people, not curing them. The world is full of greed-pigs only in it for themselves & their bank account. And we happily oblige at every opportunity. We're slaves to our possessions, we oblivious consumers!

PS1 Memory cards work on PS2, but you couldn't save PS2 games on it.

I used mine all of 1 time, and then just went back to the controller because that always had batteries and was charged. Mind you, I've maybe watched 2 or 3 Blurays on my PS3. I usually just download movies now-a-days.

I use it a lot, since PS3 is my Blu-ray player and Netflix machine

I personally do not know a single person who actually owns the Blu Ray remote for the PS3. Heck I'm surprised Sony still makes the things.

I wouldn't buy one unless it doubled as an extra controller.

Maybe what we need is a company to come out with a game that uses all 50+ buttons in a game. Steel Battailion was it?

Y'all need to get an OPPO Blu-ray player.

You'll never watch a movie on your PS3 again.

I own three - one for my bedroom PS3 to watch movies so I don't need a DualShock in the room, another for my desktop PS3 to turn the PS3D display on and change the input, and my Bravia TV remote works with the kids PS3 in the lounge.

All of the PS3 remotes see regular use, but I'm not mourning the loss of PS4 compatibility because I have no need of a remote for it.

Since I live in the 21st Century I just use my TV remote to control my PS3 if I'm feeling particularly lazy. Because HDMI.

This. I don't understand why people are complaining or why Sony even added the support in the first place.
