    Ps4 Brazil Price: $1,800

In Brazil, PlayStation 4 Will Cost Over $1,800 - IGN

Today, Sony revealed that PlayStation 4 will cost a staggering R$3,999 in Brazil when it launches this November (R$ is the symbol for the Brazilian Real, that country’s currency). Based on current exchange rates, that’s equivalent to $1,849.85 (or £1,355.32, or €1,146.65, or ¥180,894.39).

To put that cost into context, PlayStation 4 will launch in the US at $399.99, in the UK at £349, in mainland Europe at €399, and in Japan at ¥38,980. Indeed, in the United States specifically, PlayStation 4 is the cheapest PlayStation console yet when adjusted for inflation.

Retail games in Brazil will launch at R$179, which, equivalent to $82.80, doesn’t suffer from a similar cost spike.

PlayStation 3 launched in Brazil in 2010 at R$1,999, or $924.69, so a high price point isn't unprecedented. But PS4 seems to be bringing premium cost to a whole new level. Xbox One is launching in Brazil for $R2,199 – over a thousand US dollars – but still comes in far cheaper than PS4.

No matter how expensive it is, it's actually sold there unlike the Xbox One.

It's not just the PS4, the WiiU cost over 1,000 us dollars in Brazil as well

If you thought the Wii U’s price tag was too high in America, Europe or Japan then you better prepare yourself for the Wii U’s price tag in Brazil.

The system costs (the basic set) R$ 2.199,00 or ten monthly payments of $R 219.90.

Don’t know how Brazil’s currency translates into dollars? Well that translates into $1,048 without the monthly payments or ten payments of $104.80.

Pretty outrageous. Brazil has a history of getting some crazy pricing on games and systems in the past but this is insane. Aren’t you happy you don’t have to pay this much for your Wii U?

Not a solution. Amazon etc only ships electronics and video games to domestic US territories. Try importing a PS4 or game from Amazon to Oz - unless you've got a US postal address (I do), are prepared to pay exorbitant shipping fees (I'm not) and waive the warranty (hell no), it's not worth the effort.

eBay is an option, but would you sell anything to Brazil? As a seller, I'd be more concerned about getting paid or the shipment conveniently going AWOL in the postal system and dealing with import taxes than giving them a leg up on local prices.

    Back to square one...
