    Can't Read Bluray Movie Discs

I've owned the PS4 for a few weeks so far and since then have downloaded a few apps and updated to the latest firmware v2.0. However, when I tried out a bluray movie for the first time, the PS4 refused to play it. I would enable the internet verification thing for discs like it says to but the disc just won't be read. This happens with all of my bluray movies, but the games I have load up fine so I have no idea why bluray movies won't play. I've tried getting it to work for a couple of hours but no luck.

    Help?

Try disconnecting the console from the internet and play the disc again.

If BDLive is enabled, that could be part of the problem.

I've tried disconnecting the wired ethernet connection and reconnected but it still says that it can't play the disc. I've tried completely shutting down the PS4 and turning it back on, and set it into standby and then woke it, multiple times but it still can't play the disc. In the settings I also tried disabling HDCP protection and re-enabling. Also tried disabling internet verification for discs, re-enabling it again and went to the official Sony website and looked at the section where it tells how to play a BR disc but no luck.

How do I know if BDLive is enabled? I've never heard of it.

Try backing up your important data and then doing a factory reset. That's solved a lot of my problems in the past.

What's the disc region? Did you pick up dodgy cheap clones on your travels?

Could be a dud PS4. You're under warranty. Return it for a replacement. If that one doesn't work either, it's your BR discs.

I don't think Blu-Ray Discs have region codes (or at least have yet to encounter any that do).

I don't think so either, but worth asking nonetheless.

They do, but the majority of them are region free.

Which is what I meant with them not having any .

Which is why I asked. If they're cheap Bali or Chinese knock-offs, they could be region-limited.

Something's amiss here. If they're Aussie bought and played on an Aussie console, you'd think they'd work.

I've only got one Blu-Ray movie, I'll see what mine does.
