DON'T press the PS button while the save icon is showing. It crashes your game and then just shows a black screen, leaving your only option to turn off the PS3, you're game save will have been corrupted after that. I've just done it 3 times in the past 24 hours, each time it corrupted my game save. Pretty ridiculous how something so minor can fuck up your entire progress of the game.

This is pretty much true for all PS3 games. You don't fuck with the power, nor the XMB while a game is saving. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I can understand turning the PS3 off while it's saving, but just pressing the PS button to check your friends list, check your messages or whatever seems pretty ridiculous. Luckily, I caught onto this just after I had finished my first casual playthrough so I didn't lose anything, others might not be so lucky.

I lost my save data about 80% through the game. Had to start my walkthrough all over again. Luckily you don't lose your trophies so it doesn't take long to catch up. You can actually get through the levels really fast when you know the right routes. On my second run I did plug in a Flash Drive and kept backing up my save file every half hour or so just in case it happened again.

Yeah, the XMB is one shitty feature.

I don't know how true that is, at least for me. I tend to do that too for some reason or another and all it really does is just lag. Then i try to exit the XMB and it takes a minute or two to exit. Other than that, i've been okay with every game I have played. But i guess i should probably resist the urge to do it now knowing this information.
Also, thanks for the warning. I don't have this game yet, but i do eventually plan to play it

My game save has corrupted for a fourth time now. This time I didn't even press the PS button, I was loading my campaign up and then it just showed the loading icon on a loop, leaving me no choice but to turn off my console, again, finding my save had corrupted. I can't even play this game now, it's ridiculous.

i too just felt the wrath of the dreaded corrupt save data.. i was trying to play contracts mode and nothing it was showing up as if it was in an endless loading loop,i pressed the ps button to check if maybe my wireless connection dropped, but alas the system crashed and i was forced to hold the power button to shut it down. when i reloaded i got the "no save save data found creating a new save" ..i feel stupid because i knew it was a common problem and i have an external hd for media and save backups but i never did.. good thing i have my purist speed runs on lock down now. should get back to my spot pretty quick
