ReviewHaven METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE Review
It’s been a long road for Rising. It started as a stealth-action game by Kojima Productions, got canned, then revived by the action game gurus at Platinum, with KojPro still in the mix – is it worth the wait?

Total Awards: 6The reviews so far indicate this isn't the horror show many hysterical gamers claimed it would be. Looking forward to playing this as ever.

Well I for one was patiently waiting this game to come out since I seen my first trailer for it. After getting my copy yesterday I have to say I was personally blown away from the very start. The controls, video, and story were all worth the wait in my eyes. The only downfall I found was I completed the story in one sitting on normal in under 3 hrs. After playing the massive video based game that is MGS4, I thought it would have been a little longer, but I'm sure the VR training and revengence mode will keep me busy. Happy Gaming

I got it yesterday, and its a great action game...story is a lil bizzard...but the graphics are great, combat is razor sharp ( a mixture of DMC,Metal Gear and Okami)...
This is the raiden game he deserved..

You don't need to be a jerk about it to the guy. He's right; even with the lock-on, every now and then the camera does decide to bug out. It's happened to me, too. It has nothing to do with your parrying skills or anything when the camera decides to start swiveling around all over the place and you literally can't control it.

Really gonna have to check this game out. It will be my first Metal gear game, so I'm curious.

The soundtrack sounds great to me.

Having started the game recently and still being relatively early on the game (I've only earned like two or three chapter trophies), I agree with it being a blast, but disagree with the writing so far.
Sure, Kojima was never on the master-level of some literature heavyweights, but he had much better scripts than this lol.

Total Awards: 7I think you missed the part where I said it isn't quite as strong as the rest. I just said it feels like a Metal Gear title, story wise. Also, Kojima didn't write it - he barely had anything to do with it, even when it was Metal Gear Solid: Rising.
while it isn’t quite as good as other Metal Gear stories, it does feel like a Metal Gear title. This is mostly thanks to the writing of Etsu Tamari, and overall Kojima Productions heavy involvement with the story.

I didn't actually read it, just quickly skimmed through it
. But I did see this at the end:
So far, I wouldn't say it is good, just average/above-average.the story is relatively short and the writing, while good[...]
Also, I'm aware Kojima wasn't involved with the game; what I meant was that he did better a job, even if he isn't the best writer in existance.

Total Awards: 7That's what I mean when I say good. [Also, that line you quoted, goes on to say "isn't quite as strong as the rest of the series"] You're basically echoing my own sentiments

Just a note for people who may be off-put by other reviews talking about beating the game in "5 or fewer hours" - what they aren't realizing is that the final time they are likely quoting doesn't account for retries, cutscenes, or anything else basically in between ranked battles [Like traveling from point A to point B]. It's also ONLY counting your fastest time through the fight.
IE: Say you finish a fight in 20 minutes, die, and redo that fight in 15 minutes - it ONLY counts the 15 minute fight, and not the time spent continuing or anything. The game itself is roughly 8-9 hours long - it just feels short because it's paced so damn fast [The action almost never stops].
