goty: Dragon Ball Z Kinect announced

Dragon Ball Z Kinect powering up this October | Joystiq

Months after a Korean rating started us thinking up ridiculous fantasies about Dragon Ball Z Kinect, Namco Bandai has announced the game at a press event in Las Vegas, due in October. Players will get control of over 50 characters (including Mr. Pointyhair, karate guy, green man, and the little one) and perform real DBZ-style moves gesturally.

QR codes will (somehow) be distributed to unlock extra characters, because trying to focus a lamp on a card so the game will read it is a super important part of Dragon Ball lore.

    all my money.

i hope it's mic activated so i have to scream at it to go super sayian.

Yeah. I don't know about this. I hear the kinect has recognition issues but the idea is golden. Let's see how this goes.

While I can see this selling a lot of copies due to everyone wanting to throw out kamehas and spirit bombs like crazy, I can't think of how this would be enjoyable for more than 15 minutes. Just imagine how horrible it would be to be in a fist fight.

But the Star Wars videogame franchise has always been average at best .

not really. recognition issues usually fall on the developer side, not the hardware side.

Why do you call every game GOTY material? Anyways...

They tried this with the Wii, which had some serious issues. It's not always the developers problem. You can blame the hardware for once. Specially in the Wii's case for DBZ Budokai.

I completely agree. This seems like a great idea for the franchise however at the same time the Wii one was pretty close to this and that one got tiring to play rather quickly as well.

If you could stand there screaming to power yourself up, I would buy 100 copies.

    LAST TIME ON DBZ
Goku: (powering up for 10 minutes)
    Frieza: You're still weak

    NEXT TIME ON DBZ
    Goku: (still powering up)
    Frieza: Oh s***

Yah, and it failed completely. Now the wii is shit as is, but the same concept with a camera instead of remotes? I don't see it working out well.

It was DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2....

Now, this is an idea that can very easily fail. I forsee people breaking lamps and shit with random kicks and ki blasts.

Oh god. They can **** off with this crap. Reusing the DBZ:UT engine to the max and the motion control support is probably incredibly poorly implemented.

This is worse then EA sports, hell, even CoD/Activision rehash. Dimps needs to come back and work on the next DBZ game. For those who don't know, Dimps created the original Budokai games, and they've been working with Capcom on the Street Fighter games (starting with 4, even though Ono has stated in an interview that there are some people at Dimps that used to work for Capcom a long time ago). They actually know how to create a good fighting game.

LOL. Besides the game reminding me of the old DBZ arcade game I played back in the day, it looks alright. but I want to see how well it keeps tracks of the movements... And wow, the announcer obviously has never seen or heard of DBZ.....

So what 18 mins of screaming and grunting and 3 mins of gameplay?

But seriously they need to stop releasing these shit DBZ games every year and release and HD collection of Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 & 3. The 2 greatest DBZ games of all time.
